GPU-Z Crossfire Question

Got my second card today. In GPU-Z, my first card says (in Bus Interface):

PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x16 2.0

My second card says:

PCI-E x16 @ x4

It doesn't change when the card is under load. Is this normal? That is to say, I know my board is x16/x4, but shouldn't it be reporting as 2.0 instead of 1.1?

You have a LGA1156 board. You only have 16 PCIe lanes comming off of the CPU. Another 8(iirc??) off of the Southbridge. 4 of them allocated to the second full length PCIe slot. Unfortuneately, the southbridges PCIe lanes are 1.1, and not 2.0. :(

Hmm. I ran some hardware detection program before purchasing, and it said both slots were 2.0.

How much performance am I losing compared to x4 2.0? I was figuring x16 -> x4 was ~3% according to this, so would it be ~6% in a 1.1 slot?

Well, you have HD6850s, however, I wouldn't really know the full effect, because your second slots PCIe lanes are routed through the southbridge, which adds a bit of latency.

EDIT: not only that, the test platform TPU used was a X58 chipset...

Well yeah, I was thinking 3% instead of 4% since a 6850 is a bit less powerful than a 5870.

Should the chipset matter? x4 is x4, unless I'm mistaken. Not sure on that southbridge latency thing.

I tested a few games and didn't see quite the scaling that some reviews do, but I chalked that up to a CPU bottleneck. Let me try pushing that farther and seeing what's what.

Edit: ...Yeah this scaling is pretty terrible. Oh well.

So I've tested every game I have (which isn't many). BFBC2 saw small improvements.

Sacred 2, Mafia II, Risen, and GRID either performed the same or worse than a single card. Any idea what would be causing that? Some driver issue, poor CF support, or is my terrible mobo causing issues? I have the 11.6 CAPs installed.
