I'm skeptical that it's worth it since you basically lose the ability to run a regular work unit on the one core. Now with a X1900 series card this loss is more than made up by the points yielded by the GPU client. If you go and put in a 1600 series card and get 1/4th the points, well... it's marginal. BUT it is still useful scientific work, which is my main concern, not the points.
If a 1600 is all you have/can afford, great, go for it. BUT you can find X1900 series cards used for about $200-250 now, and after the R600 is released, even more will be sold off to make way for the newer cards. Gravy time.![]()

Where can you spend $100 on any hardware, and add 200 PPD to an existing computer?
