Google Launches Alternative DNS Resolver

Never heard of this stuff before. So I can set a specific a DNS host on the cable modem (not the individual computers attached behind the router)? And the Router/Modem will redirect all the attached PC on the router to that DNS host instead? And this will possibly be faster then whatever DNS is provided by my ISP, Charter?

Aside from web browsing could this also increases connections in something like World Of Warcraft?

id ask all of you to consider if you really want to give google this data? Now they know every-site you go to, unless its been pre resolved.

No, not the modem, you do it on the network controlling node. If you have a router, you will do it via the router, if you just have one computer, then you set it on the computer.

Look up DNS for more.

So now that I can "Maybe" save 30 thousands of a second per webpage, what will I do with all that free time?

I am using DD WRT and I tried changing to OpenDNS, but it didn't seem to work according to the check feature on their site

then I tried Google's DNS servers and I'm not sure if it's working
they say to test it, just type in an address like "www,google.com" and see if it resolves
I did that and it works fine, just seems like there should be another way to test

In the permanent logs, we don't keep personally identifiable information or IP information. We do keep some location information (at the city/metro level) so that we can conduct debugging, analyze abuse phenomena and improve the Google Public DNS prefetching feature. We don't correlate or combine your information from these logs with any other log data that Google might have about your use of other services, such as data from Web Search and data from advertising on the Google content network.
Stop being hysterical.
