Anyone know a good quality, quiet external PSU? Needs to handle an i7 and a 5870.

Current 625w PSU is the noisest thing in my system and looking to have more efficient cooling for the PSU by keeping it out of the case, like most laptop PSU's.

Doesn't exist. Bricks top out way way before the range you'll need for an i7 and 5870. Look in to a quieter PSU, sure, maybe even consider swapping out fans yourself, but no brick (at least nothing widely available) will do what you want.

Someone used to make a two kilowatt external power supply but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere in a long while and it was extremely expensive. I suggest either mounting your existing power supply outside the case (something I've done before for space reasons) or getting a different case/power supply; what case and ps do you have now?

The right solution to your problem would be to purchase a quieter PSU. If you want the best out there, get a Seasonic X-750. The fan won't even run most of the time with the loads your PC would put on it.

Also it wasn't a brick, it was designed to power multiple machines and was anything but quiet.
