before all this, i had a aspire psu, pretty nice for 70 dollars, checked amps, help up, gave promised amps, but today i get a new case, a coolermasted caviler, and i get a new psu with it, a coolermaster, adn i love the psu. I never switched it, the beast of a psu weighs in at 8 pounds, and also, the psu itself, has 15 amps labeled on it, went to test it, bam, im getting 22 amps on the 12 rail. I have it on my nf4 lanparty and a x800xl atm. Pretty nice psu for a case psu. Its like my aspire, but dosent use as much power, whjen i tested its input wattage, it tested at 210, while on the aspire, same system, did 370, so hah
 
I'm curious as to how you tested up to 22A on the 12V rail?
 
Aspire sucks. Coolermaster PSUs are ok. But probably not bundled ones.

Edit: 210W draw for 22A@12V? That's 126% efficiency! I must get a CoolerMaster PSU!
 
Yeah, the amps are going to change depending on what is connected to PS. You'd have to give it a load similar to a full system to see what it really does on the 12V line.
 
i did, each time same system, running prime 95, and i have a relly neat muti meter that allows me to do that

What does it have? A clamp on current probe? If so, how did you isolate that it was JUST the 12V you were getting a reading from? Seperate all of the yellow wires from all of the rest and clamp them?

Something doesn't sound right.
 
I forsee a post with 5 links on how to properly test PSU's coming up soon :) The PSU's that come with the Cavalier's are decent at best. The cases are $55 alone, and with PSU they run $70. They are the bottom line Coolermaster 350W ATX 12V 1.xx PSU's that are lower than the cheapest retail Coolermasters that are still even sold, and they do NOT have 22a on the 12V rail.

However if you consider Aspire PSU's to be really nice then, in relative terms, the $15 Coolermaster 350W PSU with more like 16a on the 12V rail might be really good :) I was just looking at these in person at Directron when deciding between various cases before deciding to wait and order an Antec P180, and I don't remember being very impressed with the included PSU.
