hey ive been looking for quite some time for some good heavy preferably wooden speaker stands for some hefty speakers (aprox 20 pounds each). these are for my computer but i have got to get them away from my crt monitor because they interfere with the monitor's picture.

I have the whole 5 speaker setup and actually have a 20 pound center speaker sitting on top of my monitor as well. I really do not like speaker stands that i have seen so far like, for example, the stands that have just one skimpy metal pole with a small landing at the top that your speaker is supposed to balance on. I really want something cylindrical with a large diameter made of quality wood. Think of a completely brown totem pole. This has been my dream to find speaker stands like this but i have not been able to find anything in a 50 mile radius of my house or anything online yet. Does anyone know of an online store that would sell such a thing? Or are there any other nice looking types of speaker stands that wouldn't cost like 200 a pair that would suit my purpose? thanks for any suggestions
 
i think goodguys.com are having a huge sale...with 4th of july coming up there's bound to be some deals. I'm looking for cheap stands too.

HT speakers/Bookshelf speakers probably don't sound good at the same distance as your CRT Monitor right?
 
man.. I think you could DIY them pretty easy...with paint, pvc piping, and some square pieced of wood... and make them look exactly like you want. Cherry, mahogany, birch whatever you want. That's what I did... just a suggestion. It's cheap too..

I got some ones like these but with double tubes and they were powder coated silver. got them off ebay for about $25 a pair. (you were saying you might want wood tho.)

hmm those sanus natural foundations look really nice. i might pick up two pairs of the 30"ers. Too bad they cost so damn much.
