I've been rocking razer mouse pads but they delaminate after a month or so -_-

There are a ton of options out there now. Looking for recommendations for a hard mousepad similar to the old-school ratpadz.

I absolutely adore my SkyPad. It's not quite as slick as a ratpad, but for me personally those were a little too slick and I am not that coordinated. The frosted glass adds just a touch of added control.
Super easy to clean, will last forever, etc.

Logitech G440 is pretty good. They have them on Amazon for $15 right now, so not a huge risk if you change your mind. They are pretty big. They are rectangular so you ran rotate the pad to even-out wear.

Hard pads are noisy and wear out fast. What is the appeal vs a soft quiet pad?

For me, at least, I feel that most of the soft pads drag on the mouse. Also, the thicker ones tend to tweak my wrist.

The 3M one I linked above is going on eight years now with no real signs of wear. It doesn't produce any noise that I perceive. And it's very thin, which works best for me. My only minor complaint is I wish it was a bit larger.

Seconded on the thin 3M ones, my current is a Razer version but I generally only change them when I switch / refinish a desk. They are cheap and once you stick them on you can forget them for years.

Bump - my latest Razer Vespula is in the process of falling apart. Looking for another hard pad =(

I love my Cerapad KIN. It's a ceramic pad that resolved my 2 major gripes with glass pads: they're too slick and too big. This Cerapad is fantastic. I chose the 14"x12", but you can get them as big as 24"x20". Control is almost as good as a cloth pad while still very smooth and responsive. They sell out quickly, so you gotta grab one fast. I bought 2 -- blue and grey... should've bought 2 blue.

I'm using a Banshee Pad from twenty years ago, it looks similar to this one but it's light blue with different text at the bottom. Not sure where to get them anymore, mine was from redvsblue.com back when it first started. Highly recommend, has worked flawlessly for multiple decades.

I tried a razor a while back. I hated it lol. It was extremely noisy and the coating didn't last a month before it was stripping off just like you said. I quickly realized I would never buy another hard surface 🐀 pad ever again, lol.

Razer Atlas. Tempered glass. Pricey but soooo worth it. I'll never need another mat unless I shatter this thing, in which case I might need another first aid kit :D

Ratpadz making a comeback next year. Testing new surface profile now.
I have a Ratpadz GS I just had to retire because it was smooth. I move my spare Ratpadz GS over to my kids computer. I have a couple original Ratpadz in a box somewhere that all were worn smooth hah.

I still have a Func 1030, but it's showing some serious age at this point (I think I got it around 2006).
I still use a Func 1030 and a RatPadz XT, both are in great condition. With the 1030 (which I've had since the mid 2000s, and which I got at around the same time as my RatPadz GS), since it has two surfaces, I alternate between the two surfaces depending on what I am doing. Like I game on the smooth side and do general computer use on the rough side. Both surfaces are still in good condition (especially the smooth side), but I did grab a couple replacement surfaces before they went outta stock years ago. I gave one to a friend for his berfday (cuz his 1030 was very worn out, although he only used the smooth side), and I'm keeping the other for myself as spare backup.

And I will be buying as many as I can get! Can't wait!

Sadly I lost mine, but I replaced it with a RatPadz XT years ago.
