Hi - I'm looking for recommendations and advice for backup software. I used to use Ghost and Drive Image from bootable CD to USB drive for decades, but I'm not sure those are going to work anymore. I actually bought Drive Image, didn't receive the rebate, then lost the media and I'm all pissy about that so free/open source is my direction.
My wish list:
My wish list:
- to back up windows 10 and linux (mainly centos) machines
- in-OS backup and/or bootable backup
- incremental backups
- some kind of background automatic backup
- good control over what's backed up (drive / folder selection or exclusion)
- backup to USB drive or SMB/SAMBA file share
- encryption to prevent machines from accessing other machines' backups
- compression
- trustworthy (eg, doesn't call home or install other stuff)
- browseable backups, in case I need to access files
