Hi

I've currently got an NEC 20WMGX2, and I love the display, but I think it's time for a new display since the backlight of this is not uniform at all anymore. I figure if I'm getting a new monitor, I may as well get a larger one. So far the only glossy 24" IPS display I've found is the Apple, but that's not an option for a couple reasons. 1) I've got a 5870 and AMD doesn't seem to have any interest in solving the issue, and 2) It's out of my budget.

I've tried, non-glossy displays, but it just doesn't feel the same. My friend has a couple EA231WMi's and I really can't say I'd take that screen over my current one.

If such a monitor doesn't exist, would anyone know where to get a couple 20WMGX2s for a good price? If I can't get a larger resolution monitor, at least running multiple would be nice.

Sadly there isn't one , best place to find 20WMGX2s is just ebay , sale/trade forums . There isn't really a place to buy them refurbed anymore.

3 years ago I had a 20WMGX2 then the backlite up and died on me , In my mind its still the best looking monitor for the 360... it just felt perfect for that and Gears of War looked so amazing on it.

That's a shame... this backlight has 9663 hours on it so far, I don't know how much is left on it. It really is disappointing that there isn't a good replacement.

what do you mean by "glossy kills the LCD"? I really don't mind the glossy since I don't have any major light sources to reflect off the display, so I get a very crisp image with no sparkle, no screen door effect, etc... I know both of the displays mentioned above are great LCDs, and if I wasn't spoiled by the 20wmgx2, I'd probaly get one. However, all the non glossy screens I've tried since then just really feel like a downgrade from this monitor. I'm sure some of the more expensive monitors might look great, but I really don't want to spend ~$1k for something like a 2490Wuxi v1.

I've swapped the dead CCFL tubes in one of my LCD's before. It wasn't especially difficult, but you should know your way around electronics before attempting something similar. I fixed a $300 monitor for about $30.

Not really worth it, something else is bound to go wrong when you have that much use on it.
