"Today we have a picture of a custom WRX80 design from Gigabyte to share. This motherboard is called WRX80 SU8, which is a server motherboard exclusively for the AMD Threadripper PRO series.

Gigabyte WRX80 SU8 supports up to AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX, which is a 64 core 280W CPU based on sWRX8 (4094) socket. Unlike the Threadripper non-PRO series, the WRX80 platform features 8-channel memory support.

The series also supports up to 128 PCIe lanes, a double of what the non-PRO series do. This might be important as this WRX80 motherboard features seven PCIe Gen 4 x16 slots.

At the time of writing, no other specs were known, neither was the price or release date."

Interesting, I thought the Pro's were exclusive to Lenovo, not that Lenovo is selling them yet. Maybe this is going to be the chipset for the new Threadrippers in April?

Edit:

Apparently, Lenovo is now selling them in limited quantities, I swear when I checked like 3 weeks ago their site still had no pricing and a message along the lines of coming soon.

Are you talking about Lenovo selling the standalone CPUs themselves? If so, where?

Edit: FRUs are:
Threadripper Pro 3945WX 4.0GHz: 5SA0U56239 https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/12603681/Lenovo/5SA0U56239/
Threadripper Pro 3955WX 3.9GHz: 5SA0U56238 https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/12603742/Lenovo/5SA0U56238/
Threadripper Pro 3975WX 3.5GHz: 5SA0U56237 https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/12603751/Lenovo/5SA0U56237/
Threadripper Pro 3995WX 2.7GHz: 5SA0U56236 https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/12603754/Lenovo/5SA0U56236/

Quite expensive direct from Lenovo... (no surprise there)

No just in the Thinkstation P620 series, I’ve been asking my Lenovo rep for months to let me know when they start shipping. He’s given me nothing, granted I’m not a Lenovo shop so I don’t talk to them much but I was going to get one 3975x platform at least. So I was a smidge saddened to find they are now available and they hadn’t contacted me. But when I emailed him they said they are trickling them out and that the lead out tiles were long because of supply issues and a long pre order list.

No, the whole shee-bang: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/think-...series-towers/ThinkStation-P620/p/33TS3TPP620

Only way to get just an amd pro processor is ebay, which probably won't have the tr pro. Even if you did get one on ebay, they're useless without one of the motherboards that are made for them (which are also only available on ebay or from lenovo, dell, etc.). All or nothing.
I was actually considering the Thinkstation P620 platform, but realized that it wouldn't fit 2x 3090s (at the full PCI-E 4.0 bandwidth for both, based on 4-slot NVLink bridges) -- details here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/k7x89h/epyc_motherboard_supporting_acpi_s3_or_s4_aka/
That and their custom power supply interface for the P620 motherboard is not ideal.

Well, in theory there should be 3-slot NVLink bridges coming for A6000 boards which would work for the 3090s, the issue there is heat dissipation for at least 1 of the GPUs...

I suspect that when they designed the P620's the 3090's were not something they were putting any thought into, but both ASUS and Gigabyte do have the dual-slot blower 3090's that would fit, and really given the case's apparent lack of airflow a blower design is probably for the best.
