Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 Problems & Support..

Since when has AMD64 also been called "Athlon"?

I always thought Athlon referred to the K7 core.

"AMD Athlon processors are designed to work with DDR SDRAM with data rates of 200 MHz, 266 MHz, and 333 MHz to provide the power for computing systems that deliver extraordinary performance."

Why can Gigabyte say that they support DDR400, when the AMD64 integrated DDR controller does only support up to DDR333.

If you look at the memory compatibility list, it clearly shows that DDR400 is supported.

hey guys, just wanted to let you know, while reviewing this motherboard i also had some of the same issues, memory would not run in dual channel mode, no cpu temp readout, even after updating bios to F4 from their site, however

i called Gigabyte and spoke to one of their tech's, he emailed me two beta rev's of bios, F4h and F4k. Right now I am running 2x512mb PC3200 in dual channel mode using the F4h bios......give em a call and ask for the new bios, it didn't fix the cpu temp issue, but it did fix the dual channel issue ;)

Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 (F4h bios)
AMD A64 3200+ Winchester core 90nm cpu
Simpletech P/N SDC3200C3 / 1GB (2x512MB PC3200)

the rest shouldn't matter

Hmm that's interesting, haven't heard of that brand of RAM. You wouldn't happen to know what brand of chips are in it do you? So you've had no BSODs and ran prime95?

nope, no bsod's, i dont use prime 95, i use folding@home 24/7 as a stability benchmark as well as sandra, etc.....

the ram chips dont actually have a name on them, just a symbol, it's a circle with nine little dots, arranged in a square on the top left corner of the circle........
