I don't use it for overclocking but I am wondering how accurate are the temp settings? I use it occasionally to monitor the cpu temp. I'd rather start an application for myself rather than having it running in the background and this one seems easy enough. I'm just wondering about the temp accuracy?

download and run coretemp and compare the two. It used to be way off, not reading the internal cpu temp sensors at all. I beleive it has recently been changed but it is such a memory hog I do not use it. If you minimize coretemp it will put the temps in the tray.

Easytune is good for the CPU voltage, almost anything else I have tried reads the Vid which is incorrect if you override the CPU voltage by setting it manually in the bios.

anyway we all trust coretemp as an acceptable standard because we know it is reading the internal cpu temp sensors and has been tested as accurate and the developer made enough details of how he did it to convince us of its accuracy. Several programs use that method now, speedfan is very accurate too. Minor differences show up due to the readings being taken over time and an average presented to the user, but speedfan and coretemp are within a deg C of each other if they do not agree exactly.

If you are interested I have a bookmark to an old post that shows you how you can read the internal cpu data directly if you want to make your own comparison/testing. It is not hard.
