I have e6300, and ds3 Ver 1.0
I have a Gskill PK 1G ddr2 800.
and then I brought 2G kit of buffalo firestix.

here is the problem.
If I put 2G buffalo in slot 1, 3. dual channel, works perfectly.
if I put 2G buffalo in slot 2,4, it will not post.
if I out 2G buffalo in slot 1, 3, and 1 256MB ddr2 400 in slot 2, it works perfectly.
if I out 2G buffalo in slot 1, 3, and 1G Gskill PK ddr2 800 in slot 2, it will not post.

buffalo 2G kit default spd is 667, but OC is fine.

yes.
last night, I try run 2X1GB buffalo firestix and 2X512MB buffaki select, still no post.
but the computer running without reboot. If I have a voltage problem, the computer will reboot after few seconds.

I'm not sure if you can get mis-matched memory to run or not. I'm sure someone will come in here and let me know if this is wrong or not. I've just never heard of it working.

Sell your gskill and get more firestix, it'll save you a lot of headaches from running mismatched ram.

I think mismatch memory should work.
I don't think all the people are use 4 idenitical memory in 4 slot.

now, i am not sure 4 buffalo firestix can working fine. I need make sure before buy more firestix

If your memory timings are on auto, go in and set the memory speed/divder to make sure its running the stock speed on the slowest stick you use. Set the other standard timing parameters to the value of the stick with the loosest timings. Make sure the memory boost or whatever they call it is on normal and C.I.A. is off.

Basiclly set up for no overclocking, put your memroy voltage at the value required by the stick(s) that have the highest Vdimm factory spec, set timings and fsb for slowest stick.

Once you get all 4 sticks in and booting, then you can play with OC, there are many many more sub timings than is shown in the bios.

If that does not work /shrug.

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. With that mix match set up you're trying at best the ram is going to be running quite slow.

for best results you need all matched sticks. At least in size, preferably in speed & timings.

Just get rid of the other ram. 2Gb is enough for any current game. Unless you're doing something that requires 3Gb+ (working with very large files, etc) its not worth the stability & performance penalty.
