Okay , im too good for the easy difficulty , but i suck at the medium difficulty ... seriously.:mad:

I want to know how to place my finger efficiently on the guitar. thanks for any advice!

I know how you feel, stepping up in difficulty can be frustrating when you're too good at one, but not good enough for the next. For the transition from easy to medium, here's my suggestion: since medium uses only the first four buttons, keep your four fingers each to their own button. This way, you'll be able to practice finger control consistently, without favoring your pointer and middle fingers like you might do if you'd slide your hands around.

If you've already been doing this, it's a good way to start, but you really just need to practice. You'll get better way faster by doing something just out of your reach than you would at doing something that's easy for you, just like any other skill. Just push through the awkwardness at first, and you'll be fine. Good luck! :)

there is a practice mode that slows down the notes ALOT. work your way up to being at normal speed.

index = green

middle = red

ring = yellow

pinky = blue

when you get to hard, youre going to be moving your hand around a LOT though...

Check out scorehero.com. It's the biggest forum & website community for guitar hero and has a section dedicated to technique. My xbox rank went from top 2000 to about 200 within 3 months of using the website. They allow you to enter all your scores and track your progress. Much better than the guitarhero.com website that just launched.

When you're on medium, no need to move your hands around. Once you get to hard, they'll throw in some oranges. You'll have to perfect the art of shifting your whole hand about one inch down so that you can hit those lower notes with consistency.

Personally I play

Thumb - Green
Index - Red
middle - yellow
ring - blue
pinky - orange

When I play on Hard or Expert, I'm more comfortable with my hand slid down one notch (so index is on green... the 2nd button... bah I havent played in awhile, I forget the colors) I find it easier to slide up with my index than sliding down with my pinky, especially for faster parts.

Yeah, I end up doing a lot of this, too. Especially since there seem to be a lot of songs which are much more note-heavy on the higher buttons. That, and most people are much more dexterous with their index fingers than their pinkies. I guess one of the biggest things about the higher difficulties and sliding is being able to intuitively plan where your hand needs to end up to catch the next part. In that way, it can be very much like playing a real instrument.

Play Guitar Hero 3 with xbox360 wireless controller and you get to use 2 hands with no star power! I beat all the demo songs on meduim 5 stars. Its that easy. Plus, the triggers add to the fun. :p

I agree with the the advice on leaving your fingers on all the buttons - that's the way I learned. I actually just jumped into medium the first time I played, so I'm in a similar boiat as you (medium >> hard is ridiculous). But yeah, the key is "feeling" the yellow buttons ridge - any time I'm playing and I don't feel it I know I'm in trouble lol.

I thought I'm the only noob here... I'm about to finish easy mode and step up to the medium level, already started on it but get killed in first 20%, highest I went was 21% hehe... I can't wait to practice more though... fun fun fun...

Whoever posted that site up scorehero... thanks
