GFX problem or something else?

Hi

I guess my problem is related to gfx card , some hours ago I got these green pixels showing up. It doesnt happen very often but at random occasions the whole screens gets filles with these "see picture", they seem to be orginazied in som kind of pattern.

I havent got any temp problems, could it be a driver issue? And I am not OCing anything,
never had...

We can see the thread just fine: It's the pictures we can't see. Like most smart forums out there, that forum disables user uploaded pictures to guests or to the public. We would have to register on that site in order to see that picture.

Much simpler and faster for you to just upload the image to a image sharing site and post the link of that. Imageshack is a good one.

thnx Danny thats what I meant. Gotta stop posting until 2 coffee minimum has been met.:p No offence but no one will sign up on a forum just to look at a pic.

No, and it seems you may be more interested in being difficult then getting answers to your problem. Not that I think anyone really needs to see your screen shot to know what video corruption looks like.

What OS are you running? The screen shot may have helped with this.

How exactly did you rule out heat issues?
 
Well it looks like some space invaders attack... green patterns all over the desktop...

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. In the case I got 2 120 mm fans , stock cooling for everything else.

I got the two 120mm case fans mounted at the rear (one at the back and one at the side-panel)... The hdds in the case takes up all place in the front so its hard to mount a fan in the front area. Stock cooling for core i7 with smart fan, and auto fan set on gfx card.
 
have you tried using hardware monitor just to confirm that heat isn't the issue?

Does it start right away or when you are playing games? If so how long does it take for it to go "space invaders" on you?
 
Well,

It can happen all time, when the card is idling around 40 or at maximum load.

I am not sure if it is possible to send it to repair because it happens very seldom...
 
I got the same artifacting as you when I changed my stock cooler on my 8800gt yesterday. I did some reading and people have been saying that full screen artifacting is usally caused by bad video card ram. Try underclocking your card...it might not solve anything but it can help determine if something is wrong.

epicjas0n - I also believe it has something to do with the gfx-ram, because the "patterns" or pixels stays on the desktop until i refresh the screen...

I have tried to underclock the card but the strange patterns still comes and goes...


I wonder if there is any permanent damage to the card. Maybe I could leave the card for some days, letting it rest....

I was playing starcraft 2 and the card heated up to around 86-87 C its was sometime after that these strange patterns appeared. I thought a card like this could handle temperatures that high...
 
yeah definitely a graphics card issue. It's either been overclocked too much, overheated too much, or was just plain set to become defective later on.

More than likely it's permanent.

Yeah , I thought Asus made quality products , I am also having problems with my Asus motherboard

I wish the card was completely broken...
It will be hard getting asus to repair the product if the problems just appear sometimes..:(
 
contact them. they arent one of the largest or nothing. Be optimistic.
