getting my A+ cert

I know that. I should have elaborated. I was thinking in terms of worst case. You get a job, work for a little while, and have to look for work again later. If your just starting out, it's a good background learning cert, and you can do it now and never have to again. It's not really expensive either.
 
Not anymore, if you got your A+ after December 31st, 2010, you have to retake the test every 3 years if you wish to stay certified. But like others are saying, you either shouldn't really need to remain A+ certified after a few years in the field as by then you will have additional certs and more applicable real-world knowledge. Either way, it's not like the A+ is extremely difficult (everyone seems to talk about how easy it is, but my instructor only got an 810 on it, but I'm convinced that he doesn't know very much anyway), and you should be able to retake the test with ease.
