This is a horrible share for me because it's unique and less than MSRP for the RTX 2080... this is essentially a 2080 before they even decided on the RTX branding ... the backplate doesn't even specify "RTX 2080" and the LED says GEFORCE GTX ...

i don't feel right giving this away by linking to it, but i don't think i'm going to bite...

(Not mine)

that's the problem, it's hard to say... definitely unique and rare, but i just don't know... it's a lot of cash especially after another FX 5800 Ultra already... can't do it

Chances are once you start bragging about it after purchase, you will likely have Nvidia barking at you to get it back. Might be able to get a 2080ti in exchange.

There is also the box on the IO bracket that says "RTX 2080" that isn't there on the retail card. Seems odd that if it was only used for a week that the clip covering the NVLink fingers would be removed, as well, unless it was a second card in a SLI setup that isn't wanted anymore.
Probably a sample photo they used from google images. ;)
The other auctions he has up use the same angles and setup as those pictures. There is something funny about the play of light and shadow on the second fan, though. I can't put my finger on it. It looks flat and 2D instead of 3D, you know what I mean? There is also more noise in the image over the back 2/3 of the card that isn't there in the other pictures the seller has taken.

It's cool. You can always look back in a few years and remember, "That one time, when I could've bought a gtx2080 for $xx. Can't even touch one now..."

Truly, I think the value of this card is ...hard to discern, at best. I'd let this one go.

there's a lack of style and history compared to what i did choose too.

You'd be surprised how many ES items end up at the local recycler because someone misidentified, miscategorized, etc the item.

I've picked up an ES Radeon 6970 and FirePro v8750.

I think this one would be a good buy, but will only be worth it in many many years to come
If I had the spare cash I'd definitely snap it up

Did he just add the GPU-Z screenshot?

Because the subvendor says Nvidia, which seems somewhat unusual. Most manufacturers will have their own subvendor_id populated like the following below. Of course there maybe some lazy ass vendors that just copy/paste the firmware without bothering to modify it. But from the looks of it, definitely not a 'major' brand.

Asus

EVGA

To me, the only thing showing it as a GTX is the picture. Everything else says RTX and there are no details saying otherwise.

I think it's a canned picture of a GTX.

I don't think its a canned/marketing shot. It's clearly on a white table (which is common for eBay sellers trying to get decent pics of items). I mean, the table isn't 100% clean, you can see random bits on it.

The lower price is probably because the average buyer is hella spooked that the card says "GTX" instead of "RTX".

For reference, as a cookware noob, I bought an All-Clad D3 cookware set. I was really annoyed/worried by the fact that the box of one set didn't have "D3" on it, even though the SKU clearly matched the D3. So I ended up probably paying $30-50 extra for a box that clearly said "D3".

What's unusual about that? If you buy reference cards from Nvidia, the GPU-Z subvendor tag will say exactly that. The description says that it was a review sample that was passed around, so it must have come straight from them.

Unless it is an important piece of history, all electronics depreciate in value over time. Other than a sentimental value, this isn't going to bring any sort of profit in the long run. It's not even the flagship gpu for gamers sake.

Well review sample definitely means ES. I forgot Nvidia got back into selling GPU's.
