GeForce 9600M GS Driver Issue

Long time lurker first time poster here with a bit of a problem.

I recently wiped my Asus M50VM-B1 laptop clean and installed Windows 7 64 on the machine as it originally came with Vista 32. After spending some time tracking down and testing I have found all the drivers I needed except for the graphics card drivers. I get video signal fine but is dull looking compared to before the reformat. For instance all of my HD videos look to be standard definition. The GPU is a GeForce 9600M GS and the drivers I found on Nvidia's site do nothing but install bloatware thatI don't need/use. Anyone know where I can find proper 64bit drivers for Windows 7 or a possible GPU setting that I am overlooking? Thanks for any help.

I have installed the latest version of the driver from Nvidia. I'll try a few of the others that are on the page and see if any of them work and post back.

Edit: I currently have a slew of drivers downloading from Nvidia that I will install. I went ahead and called Asus and received zero help from them. After dealing with three of their tech support employees I gave up as none of them had any idea of what I was talking about.

Just a thought.

Are you running the current BIOS on the laptop?

Its not uncommon for laptop BIOS updates to have a newer video BIOS. The latest version for your particular model specifically states:

BIOS 212
Update VBIOS to fix VGA flicker and freeze problem.

Now that doesn't specifically cover your issue, but I would wager that was not the only change as some companies are notoriously bad with having accurate changelogs and the current version is 3 builds newer than the previous release. If you don't already have the current version it is worth a shot.

I don't see any display drivers for that card listed at http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=k08c0brgPC5EYAEk&content=download. Vista64 drivers typically work on Windows 7. The only thing that you can try before contacting ASUS is probably thye drivers at http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx. They list 12 different drivers for that card so one of them may work better then the newest.

Finished running through all of the drivers available and found no difference. Either I'm doing something wrong or my eyes are failing, which is possible at this point. I wiped the machine clean again to and reinstalled everything once more only to find a bit of a difference now. Videos are a bit crisper but still fuzzy so I may end up living with it like this.

My bios are up to date. I downloaded the latest drivers but once I checked to see what I was running before installing them I realized I was up to date.
