Geforce 295 or Geforce 660?

I've been gearing up for an overdue upgrade, and have been getting pretty excited about upgrading my Geforce 285 to a new Geforce 660 later this month.

However, I just received an unexpected gift of a Geforce 295. This is roughly 2x as good as my 285, and "theoretically" compares very favorable vs a 680!

Is there any truth to this?

I know the 295 will have me missing out on some delicious new tech, like tri-monitor output, DX11, tessellation, and the new AA modes... but it can also delay a GPU/CPU update for a full generation.

I thought the 295 was more like two 260/275s rather than two 280/285s.

The question to ask yourself is, does this current card do what I want it to do?

The 295 doesn't actually fair as well as you might think. The 680 is around 2x as fast as a 480 which is around the same speed as the 295 or just a little faster in some cases.

The 660 will certainly use much less power, Game on it for awhile that should tell you if it fits your needs, if you are not happy sell the 295 and upgrade.

Thanks for your input! I think I'll ebay the 295, and use the proceeds to bump my 660 to a 670.

The 680 isn't twice the speed of the 480, it is about 50% faster.
