Gaming Mousepad?

I've been using a puretrak talent, I like it. I love my cloth pads and this tracks well while having a bit more glide than my qck+.
 
Bought a HIEN Hard L in navy blue, most I've ever spent on a mousepad (it was about $28 shipped from Amazon, 30% off). I hope to god I like this thing... I didn't quite realize how large the "L" pads are, this will probably end up sitting under my keyboard as well (it's 16.5x13"!). Considering canceling my order and getting the "S" 8x9" pad, as that's more what I'm used to and would save about $15. Would have to get it in red though... Not so sure about that. I personally go with the Steelseries SX - that's the one made of black anodized aluminum. I love the cooling feel of it and since its made with gaming in mind there's just enough texture for great tracking. Not cheap certainly, but considering how much some plastic pads go for these days its not that much more. Easy to clean as well!

Yep, it's a hard pad and very thin, last pad was too tall. Had it for a couple of weeks and my mouse glides smoothly across it. Found it in store too even though it says online only.
 
I'll put my vote in for the SteelSeries SX. Works great with my G500 and never had any problems with tracking.

I love my SX too, but the problem with recommending it is that Steelseries doesn't seem to make it anymore. In fact it seems like they haven't for a long while now.
 
My Hien Hard Medium Japan Black pad will be arriving today from Amazon, I'll let you guys know how it is after I give it a whirl in BF3.
 
Ordered a HIEN Hard L in navy blue as I posted above... got a box from Amazon with plastic "peel and cut action" vegetable children's toys in it, but the right packing slip... Obviously that's getting returned, and I'm hoping an actual mousepad shows up in the mail tomorrow after talking to an Amazon rep and re-ordering.

It's hard to describe the feel of the Hien Hard, it's scratchy but it tracks great, my accuracy def went up in BF3
 
Does anyone else who have a Hien pad find that it polishes the feet of your mouse for you?

That's a pretty sweet price for a HIEN Hard L, I think I paid closer to $40. I've had the pad for about a week now and so far I pretty impressed. Then again prior to last week I wasn't using any pad at all. I also picked up a HIEN VE L. I played on it tonight for half an hour or so. It's quite a bit softer than the hard, and doesn't seem as durable, but seems to be almost as good as a mousing surface.

sphex sucks. Once it's peeled of once, it becomes nothing but a sliding pice of plastic on your desk. No way is it "reuseable".
 
I read a review on mouse tracking awhile back, and it made no difference whether you tracked on a $30 mouse pad, or on a hardwood desk, or a magazine nowadays.

Tracking and feel / experience are very different things. Will it affect the accuracy of the sensor in most modern mice if you're using a newspaper or a $60 Hien XHARD L? No, it won't. Will it feel both different and better to use a good quality pad? Obviously.
 
Did you ever receive your pad silent? What's the verdict? I bought a second fUnc 1030 over the holidays to replace the one I'd been using the last 4 years but I'm not sure it's gonna last as long. Curious about those Artisan pads, tho they're not any cheaper... Why do none of you people recommending them ever leave reviews on Amazon btw? Sheesh! :p
