1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
General web browsing and microsoft office, gaming - run highest settings on games such as - Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, Starcraft 2/Diablo 3, Neverwinter Nights 2, Modern Warfare 2
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Around $1000 and less than $1500 including S&H. But if it can do what I want it to for less that $1000 by all means.
3) Where do you live?
Houston, TX
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, case, cooling fan, motherboard, RAM, video card, power supply, hard drive
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
-
6) Will you be overclocking?
no
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
20" Samsung LCD
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within the next year before the beginning of the next school year following this upcoming school year
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
-
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
no

I'm inexperienced in PC gaming and am now crossing over into largely unknown territory, just need some examples of viable parts, such as CPU and video card, that will get the job done for some of the games I want to play, there are just so many options to choose from on the websites I looked at customizable PC's. Thanks for any help and if you need anymore information I'll try and respond the best I can.

Normally its best to ask within a couple weeks of the build as products & prices change on a regular basis.

Ok interesting, how radically would products and prices change from now to December of this year?

And also what kind of AMD processor would suite my needs instead of Intel?

Between now and December a ton of shit could change. Infact a major change is that ATi is slated to release their next gen card refresher toward the end of this year IIRC. Who knows what processors or anything will be in 4 months.

Right now the equivalent to the i5 750 would be something like the Phenom II X4 955, although the cheaper 925/945 can be overclocked to the 955 speed and you save about $20. But for the same price as the i5 750 you can get the Phenom II X6 1055t.

Ok and which provider is truly better? AMD or Intel?
No I'm just kidding, thanks though I think I have an idea of what I might get but there's no rush and if things do change I could be back later. I appreciate the help

Both are good, I prefer AMD for lower budget because you can get a good quad on the cheap (Quad for $91... what??). Intel has the highest end market locked down though.

haha Talk about Loaded...

But most here when making recommendations will base there choice off of budget. On the lower end AMD will normally provide better bang for buck, but once the budget grows the i7's are king.
