Need help with a new gaming build. Current PC is almost 5 years old.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, and web browsing.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
somewhat flexible. I want value for my $. So between 1000 - 1200$ is acceptable
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
US, Baton Rouge, LA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, Modular PSU, Mobo, CPU, RAM (16gb at least), CPU cooler, Video card, DVD Burner, any extras like additional fans if necessary
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I will reuse a 128gb SSD, and 4 3.5 hdd's.
6) Will you be overclocking?
I would like to do moderate overclocking. Nothing hardcore. Most likely I'd keep it stock until new games got slow then I'd overclock to keep up. So I want a somewhat decent heatsink
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Currently have dual 22 inch, will most likely buy a 24 inch soon. I only game on one monitor. Don't include 24 inch monitor in quote.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Hopefully soon.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
USB 3.0 and Sata 6gb for sure. RAID would be nice but not required.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I get a free legal copy of windows 7 64bit from work
I don't know if i should build now, or wait till around November. I can stand to wait because the games I really want to play are Skyrim and Diablo 3, and they arent released yet. Currently newegg has a sale on Corsair HX850 modular PSU and Antec DF-85 so I might just buy those and wait till November, but if there are enough deals I might just piece together the whole computer now and purchase. I know for sure I want an i7 2600k, 16gb of ram, and a modular PSU. I'm unsure of what good mobo , heatsink, and video card to get. A large case is a must because I want more hard drives in the future, so the Antec DF-85 is attractive to me. Any opinions?
