Gamecube controller adapter incoming!

That's pretty cool, the GC controller is one of my faves.

Luckily enough, I still have all my old GC controllers too!

Excellent call.

"In a July 2011 interview, Nintendo's Amber McCollum stated that select Nintendo GameCube titles would be made available for download on the Wii U console via the Wii U's own Nintendo eShop."

With the "Wii U Pro Controller" available is there value in this GC adapter other than for GC virtual console titles?

Any idea if it'll work with the Wavebird? I think I still have mine somewhere. While lame for traditional layout games, it was godlike for Mario Kart.

It's cool, but I don't want to re-buy all the GC games I want to play...

So... the gamecube controllers had analog triggers right? Will they work in games like Need For Speed?

I hope Nintendo announced that they'll start manufacturing GC controllers again.

If Nintendo drops the price of the Wii U, and gets a couple more games for the console, I may consider getting it. I really, really want Super Smash Bros.

I wouldn't mind if Nintendo updates the controller (headphone/mic jack, tweaked button layout, wireless) and makes it their new 'Wii U Pro controller'.

This is very good.
When I first got the Wii-U i copied all my save data over from the Wii which included games such as Mario Kart and Smash Brothers. Needless to say, the wife was less than impressed when we couldn't use our gamecube controllers anymore, haha.

Now she will finally forgive me, lol. :p

Well Nintendo seems to still make them but they are not cheap.

$68 for an official one. However I could see Nintendo willing to do a limited run. But they might alter the original design to save on cost so it would still be smarter to get the original while you can before they are all gone when SSB comes out this Fall.

The white one linked above is a Japan only released controller, that's probably why it costs so much. Otherwise, they don't make any other controllers and any official controllers available as new besides the white one are most likely leftover stock. I had looked at buying some official ones to replace my aging and broken ones for use on the Wii, since I didn't have much luck with third party controllers and their quality. Hopefully with the adapter out, they will reproduce the controller.

Although I liked the overall feel of the controller in my hand, my only complaint is the Z button. It's always felt a bit awkward for me.

I guess if you don't own a Wii this would be alright. For how cheap a Wii is, though, it seems like you might as well just keep one around to play GC games on rather than buy this adapter plus a bunch of GC Virtual Console games.

I guess this is good for the new SSB game coming out on Wii-U, assuming it supports it.
