I may like Nvidia Cards, I even might consider getting another after the 6600gt I have now.. but 150w!! are they insane.. no way am i going to try and get that....
 
I wonder if Nvidia is really that dense. It would be amazing if an entire company shared such collective stupidity. Can't wait for the real-world tests - if they're anything like these reports then best of luck to them.

More pipes logically means better performance, or at the very least, better image quality.

p.s. that says "lttt", i think you mean "l33t" or "1337"
 
Burn marks all over the card? And i thought the 5800 was a monster when it came out! :eek:

WITHIN a design more pipes might logically mean more performance (key word is might...), but if you have two different architectures, its entirely feasible that a 24pipe design could possibly run the majority of games faster than a 32pipe design.

you can't just say 'x pipes = y performance' blindly. you never know until you see the results.
 
Considering we're discussing nVidia's next flagship card, I think it's safe to say that more pipes = more performance. I'm aware that different architectures scale differently, but we're not comparing a mid-range ATI card to a high-end nVidia card here, we're talking about potential designs for nVidia's next high-end and it's unlikely that at this late point they still have two dramatically different potential designs.

agreed. it would most likely be based on NV40, as the brand spankin new architechture was just introduced last year, and drivers are still maturing for it... i cant see nvidia going with a whole new architechture this time around, if they kept on coming out with brand new stuff they would be plauged with driver problems forever.

what i meant was that a 24pipe design from nvidia (or ati) could feasibly outrun a 32pipe design from ati (or nvidia)... you just never know.
 
Well, any way you look at it, it's no way near finished. If they have such a serious heat problem it will take a lot of time and effort to solve it.
I'd be surprised if they have a finished product until September-October. :(
 
Looks like nvidia needs to buy out 3dfx again and give their graphics cards another kick in the ass. Those burn marks are impressive
 
In anandtech's preview they said it would have a single slot cooling solution so I dont belive all this to hot bullshit. Linky

QFT , theG70 is a 90 nanometersolution in single slot configuration.The replacement for the GT is double the rendering power.G70 is a kick as product that will be on shelves in time for Jully4th

i sure as hell hope so. im sick of my neo2 (problems galore) and i want to go PCIe with a better board, but i dont want to invest anymore money into the current gen.

Am I the only one who immediately thought that it was damaged on purpose so the people looking at it couldn't run off, stick it in a machine, and benchmark it?

Perhaps..NVIDA cards have the throttle-function, as a way of preventing a dead GPU due to overheating...
I don't see why their next-gen not would implement this feature?

But soon all the guessing is over..and the facts will be laided out, and we will see who was right, who was wrong and who that where just posting flamebait! :)

Wow so that picture in the other G70 thread was for real. Really odd looking card I must admit! I wonder how they will deal with the heat problems now that the card is only a single slot HSF?!

lol, well technically you dont wanna brag your a single slot cooler unless you CAN use a single slot cooler. They wont release it with a single slot cooler that doesnt work.

I beleive the single shot cooler version is the next "6800GT" so to speak.The top of the line GTX just may end up a dual slot solution. Anyway the burnt card is a burnt card , nothing more.

Yeah the card that was either the first or second fastest available card at the time (depending on the game/setting) was really a "slow POS". :rolleyes:

I guess since my 6800GT SLI outclasses X850XT PEs at everything relevant they are "slow POS"s as well? :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
