FX-60 Overclock Thread

I'm Sure Plenty Of People Want It...

But at $1400?! Especially, the way technology is moving, it will be on the FS/FT boards in 3 months for $400!!

Thats a nice price 1300 for Asus A8N32 SLI and an FX60... Considering newegg has the CPU itself for around 1400!
Plus arent the 32 boards alittle outta stock from everywhere... atleast last time i check on them.

Please post your FX-60 stats so we can see if it worth buying.
Thanks!
i would personally rather see them go where there's a sticky dedicated to oc'ing :D

Im not sure how many people are going to buy the FX60 with AM2 coming out...I was going to purchase it, but Im gonna hold off for the 62.

You'd be surprised. The FX series is still the cream of the crop and the cpu of choice for the "financially agnostic" hardcore oc'er.

I'm still amazed anyone feels $1200 bux is a good price for any CPU.

I dont think they think its a good price, but hell, look at the FX60 benches. Its a crazy CPU.

But it's not that much crazier than CPU's half it's price or less.
and the unlocked multi's on it thus far aren't resulting in spectacular overclocking.

My X2 is at 2.83 and I cant beleive how fast it is. I could only imagine dual core 3.1Ghz AMD 64. Crazy!!!

I guess I just lucked out that I got an X2 with good legs.

The highest I can get stable is 2.86 but the heat is just too much up there to mess with

Think I'll stick with what I got for now. I need to get a larger PS 550 watt or so. Then try and o'cing...lol

M2 yawn, who cares. I am gonna laught when we see 5-10% jump in preformace.

okay, so just stay with s939 for life.
But why do people always complain about 5-10% performace increases.
Nobodies telling you to upgrade your rig asap. And things got to get better somehow, it can't always 50-100% increases in performance with new standards.

Heck with s939...Socket A for life :D. If only I could find a PCIe board for my mobile 2600+ that does 2.7Ghz ;).

Bah...no way....it is not worth that much when you can get a chip that will do 2.6ghz to 2.8ghz for ~300 bucks :p Spend the difference on a better vid card, more ram, faster hard drives and get more benefit...well...unless you are a 3DMark gamer or SiSoft Sandra FPU Specialist.... :D

Why the f*** do you guys crap his thread with all this bullshit about whether you think it is worth it or not? I'm so god damn sick of of people chiming in on worthless opinions about whether YOU think it is worth it or not. No one gives a shit, not to mention, most of the time the OP is asking about performance, not about price. Give him the oc results or stfu and go somewhere else.

.

And nobody gives a rats ass that you are tired of it....this is a FORUM for expressing OPINION, as long as true thread crapping is not happening...get over yourself dude, don't read it if you don't like it. YOU stop thread crapping, which is what you just did....

I picked one up last night from Newegg and have an easy 2.8 OC on air, but I'm having some stability issues with BF2 - only. Voltage is set at 1.425 and idle temp is ~45C. I bumped the RAM volts to 2.8 in hopes that it will help the stability issue (Ballistix are rated at 2.8) but I'm kind of afraid the 4x512 sticks may be the culprit. Any tips will be appreciated.

Oh, and this thing is crazy fast, even compared to the FX-53 it replaces.

Specs:
Asus A8N SLI Premium
FX-60 @ 2.8 (multi at 14)
2 x 256 7800 GTX
2 74g Raptors in raid 0, sata
1 120g HD, ide

Look at my sig for my present fx-60 overclock...it's on water and runs idle at 34 c and then usually 39 c full load.

I think I could got higher...possibly to 3100...but I'm not sure I want to do that quite yet...when you drop that 1300+ on a proc you get a little protective...

It seems that on Air 2.8-3.0Ghz is reasonable. With water being able to do 3.0-3.2 and then Phase about 3.4-3.6

Basically, it seems like you can get a good 200-400Mhz OC for each type of cooling.

That's from reading this thread and some other reviews.

How is that flaming? It's called the "FX-60 Overclock Thread". All other posters aren't contributing anything. It's not a discussion thread, nobody cares if you don't want to get an FX-60 :p

OMG....someone talked about price....for some it is not worth it...

IF I could afford to spend 1200 bucks on it, I would, don't get me wrong...but my two kids like good clothes and food on the table more than that...so I have to "get by" with a lowly X2 clocked at 2.6ghz :p

I agree 1200 for a cpu with old technology is kinda expensive. However if you are not on phase change and on water or air, the FX 60 is the best cpu out . You should get 3.2 on water with very good ram.

I am waiting for a FX that does 3.6-3.8+ gighertz on phase. I think the next step we are going with AMD is DDR 2 which would mean the new M2 processor. I dont think much will change within the next 6 months other then what i have said.
So haveing a dual cpu at 3.2-3.5 gighertz is kickass . But you could of definitly gotten a killer video card for 400-500 and then spent the other 700 on a X2 4800 and probbly got the same speeds as you are getting now , with way better system performance.
