Check out the new high tech anti-riot police armor being used in Peru. A little bit of Darth Vader and Master Chief mixed together dont you think? Thanks to Ed Cabarles for the linkage.

whats up with the continued use of the goose step anyway?
Robo-Cop meets the Empire. going to the bathroom must be a bitch tho![]()
If your country needs these... it probably has bigger issues and problems that need the money.
America doesn't have the same leftist guerrilla groups as Peru does.... yet.![]()
There is a definite advantage to making the armor look intimidating as well as being functional.
The more intimidating they look, the less likely a hippie will be to throw a rock, and therefore the less likely you are to have pictures of dead hippies on the front pages of the world's newspapers.
Aren't you a little short to be Peruvian anti-riot police?
I can understand the artistic reasons for doing it in comics and movies, but why would real-life body armor have molded-in pecs and six-pack abs?![]()
This is the answer to your question taken from the site post #30

The armour has ab definition because they need to be able to move - specifically, bend over. A solid plate of armour over the stomach would restrict movement, whereas the segmented armour is flexible.
You idiots need to learn some basic common sense, I think.
Teaching is best done without insults. Just so you know.
It ain't bulletproof.
Hell yeah...
QFT. The last thing anyone wants to see on the front page of the newspaper is these guys in full blown BAHWAN mode (beat a hippie with a nightstick).
I believe that was a quote, not Makaveli's words.

To make the fat cops look dangerous too!
Oh, they look comical to me. Knock one down, on his back and watch him try to get up...
Haha they look like extras in a bad action movie. I can understand trying to make the armor look intimidating as a deterrent or something but its a bit much.

It ain't bulletproof.
Nothing technically is. It will depend on your definition of a bullet, definition of "proof".
Watch Future Weapons episode on Dragonscale. It's about as close as it comes.
They unload a MP5 clip, several .45 rounds, AK, and M4 at it, then detonate a grenade under it.
Now you will be hurt, but live.
Separately it has been tested with a .50 at less than 100 yards and passed.
Looks like CG from a game...The light and shadows don't look right..And where is the whole pic..all I can find is this "close-up" crop. pic..
