Don't you know that these people are merely mimicing the walking of the Lego police which lacked ankles?

Note that the man on the far right with a bent knee was mistakenly given a GI Joe.

I can understand the artistic reasons for doing it in comics and movies, but why would real-life body armor have molded-in pecs and six-pack abs?

I love the crotch protectors, they provide a great target for rioters.

To make the fat cops look dangerous too!

Oh, they look comical to me. Knock one down, on his back and watch him try to get up...

I imagine you wouldn't want to go outside for the soccer (football) postgame victory/loss riot.
Nice ab armor.

Looks like CG from a game...The light and shadows don't look right..And where is the whole pic..all I can find is this "close-up" crop. pic..

If your country needs these... it probably has bigger issues and problems that need the money.

There is a definite advantage to making the armor look intimidating as well as being functional. The more intimidating they look, the less likely a hippie will be to throw a rock, and therefore the less likely you are to have pictures of dead hippies on the front pages of the world's newspapers.

America doesn't have the same leftist guerrilla groups as Peru does.... yet. :p

Heck, yeah, they're a nightmare down there. I spent 18 years working for various agencies of the missionary program of my denomination, and the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) Marxist terrorists of Peru had a particular liking for assassinating pastors--something that didn't get a lot of coverage in the U.S. media. Just like the church burnings that are rampant in Kenya right now. Martyrdom in the classic sense is very much a part of our supposedly modern world, unfortunately.

Haha they look like extras in a bad action movie. I can understand trying to make the armor look intimidating as a deterrent or something but its a bit much.

Hell yeah...

QFT. The last thing anyone wants to see on the front page of the newspaper is these guys in full blown BAHWAN mode (beat a hippie with a nightstick).

This is the answer to your question taken from the site post #30

The armour has ab definition because they need to be able to move - specifically, bend over. A solid plate of armour over the stomach would restrict movement, whereas the segmented armour is flexible.

You idiots need to learn some basic common sense, I think.

Teaching is best done without insults. Just so you know.

Much less in FPAH (Falcon Punch a Hippie) mode. :p

Strength in design, flexibility for movement, and intimidation.

To make the fat cops look dangerous too!

They will look real comical to me when you try to knock one down but is quickly beaten down to the ground and kneed in the face. Face, meet road.

What is a bit much? Have you ever been in a riot? Nothing on them is excessive.

It ain't bulletproof.

Nothing technically is. It will depend on your definition of a bullet, definition of "proof".

Watch Future Weapons episode on Dragonscale. It's about as close as it comes.
They unload a MP5 clip, several .45 rounds, AK, and M4 at it, then detonate a grenade under it.

Now you will be hurt, but live.
Separately it has been tested with a .50 at less than 100 yards and passed.

Like I said, it will depend on your definition of a bullet, definition of "proof". A tank round will clean house, a depleted uranium bullet from a plane will clean house, a rail gun bullet will clean house... it depends on your definitions. Now I never said that this armor can't stop hand gun rounds, I was simply commenting on the statement made.

Intimidation. If you knew it was really a 5'5", 220lb sweaty guy with short red hair and pimples you'd probably laugh.

Also, you can identify the silhouette in the event of impaired or severely limited vision. It fits with the "uniform" concept of equipping and clothing officers and military personnel.
