there's deals on the 500 MCE and 150 in the hot deals forum right now (4/17). 150 for $63 and 500 for $130.

If anybody remembers the HEC Orion 585watt psu i posted, well there sold out but directron now has the 485watt unit available instead @ $22 + s/h. The Orion's are an extremely quiet psu line imho and i really dig the 585watt model i got. The 80mm fans spin really slow, and its easier than having to mod them yourself. I've yet to hear the psu fans over my cpu fans, note the quietest cpu fan i have is 28 and 32db. HEC is a popular, high end brand in europe, and are often sold at better server merchants online. HEC is also popular with the denizens of 2cpu.com (dual cpu forums). Sorry for sounding like such a shill but i was highly impressed with the unit i have + research revealed plenty of positive info on the HEC brand.

Enough talky, here's your link: http://www.directron.com/hp485d.html

+3.3 V = 32A
+5V = 34A
+12 V1 = 16A
+12 V2= 17A

-12 V = 1A
+5 VSB = 2A

Try to beat that for about $28 shipped ;)

Does anybody know of a place to get cheap-ish quiet fans?

I'm looking for some 80's and 60's, but SilenX's and Papst's are absurdly expensive, and Panaflo's aren't far behind.

Thanks for pointing out those stores. I got some of the NMB fans from sidewinder.

/me notes how quiet his SC420 backend is

Newegg used to carry HECs. Now Directron is the only online store that still offers them.

I haven't heard much about their Orion series but my 350LD-T is awesome. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Antec pp352x is the same exact power supply. I'm gonna give this 485 watt one a whirl.

^^^

With numbers like that its hard to go wrong for $22 + s/h. From what i understand the Orion is one of their better line-ups, if not their current best (?) Another sleeper psu is the Xclio available at newegg in 400w & 450w ATX 2.0 flavors. The fellas in our psu forums have traced their UL numbers back to Channelwell.

While i'm here let me remind everybody that newegg and rosewill are having a killer memory sale, no rebates involved. Good for those on a major budget.

256 pc3200 $12.90 shipped AC
512 pc3200 $29.99 shipped AC
1 gig stick $73 shipped AC

Guys, I've decided to scale down my HDTV HTPC to SDTV HTPC, so my large hdd's and both HDTV tuners are up here for sale:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1027728465#post1027728465

There's some other stuff in there too, and I'm open to nearly any offers, especially from people who want to get rid of their standard def cards and trade towards hdtv cards (I can't put up an antenna in my apartment and my house contract fell through putting me in another lease in this apartment while I look another house), so I'm going to PVR my cable box in the interim and need a 550 chip card or a pvr500mce might even be better for me.

Thanks!

Audigy 2 value $45 shipped, better price than all but the shadiest of pricewatch merchants.

http://www.censuspc.com/cart/product.php?productid=1527&cat=157&page=1

Reselleratings 9.34 / 9.49

Has pretty much everything the audigy2 ZS has except:
- no firewire port
- no THX certification (probably not a big deal)
- no DTS decoding (but it does decode dolby digital EX 5.1/6.1/7.1)
- no pins for the breakout box

Can't wait to try out mine :)

I have ordered from there before. Only thing I didn't like is they required a signature for my $30 keyboard. took me days to get that thing. kept going back and forth with UPS on that.

An even better deal than the Value:

The original Audigy 2 SB0240 for $50 shipped
- Has the firewire port
- THX certified (probably not a big deal)
- Does do DTS decoding + DD EX 5.1/6.1
- Has pins for the breakout box

Compare all the Audigy 2's here: http://soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=204&product=4915&nav=3

I wish i would have seen this before i purchased the Value, would have been nifty to have DTS decoding :(

Anyone got/know any good deals on a good software based encoder like the Hauppauge ones?

I want to wait first and get some feedback, but a part of me wants to just buy it right now.

I swear if i hadn't just bought two audigy 2's at $80 total, i would be all over this and guinea pig it :(

Anybody looking for a deal on an audigy2 value (new) or an audigy2 6.1 (refurb) :p

If I wasn't religiously opposed to Creative I would take you up on that. :)

Anyways I think Newegg is stocking it too but I'm not too sure. The manufacture link goes to the same place though, $10 more but I've never heard alot of good things about Buy.com so I think it would be worth it to go with the Egg (unless I can find a place just as trust worthy).
