ATI HDTV Dongle
Hey,

I posted this on the For Sale section but since this is the place where the people that are interested in getting one hangs out, I am posting it here also.

I have the purple ATI HDTV DVI Dongle for sale ($22 Shipped). I have decided to just stick with SVideo. So if you are interested, PM me. Also looking to trade out for a nice HSF for my AMD 2600+

Alex

Since I noticed this one I'll start with Chelica's post. :)

I like this idea. the FS/FT forum is a cluster. best deal I have seen lately on HTPC hard drives is the 160gb seagate for $50 after rebates at outpost. I picked up a couple.

http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4008242#rebate

this one is a good deal for pure size/$ 250gb for $99AR

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=817716

also, this is a good video card I think. Saphire 9600np 128mb refurb $70.

if you keep an eye onthe refurbs, you can pick up a 256 card for the same price. they popped on there over the weekend and I grabbed a couple.

can this be made a sticky?

What brand/CPU range you are looking for might be helpful here. I have a P4 1.6 and mobo that I can't decide if I want to sell off or turn into my "i really need to learn Linux sometime" project.

<----- thanks xENo! :D

I don't have a preference really... i was hoping for a board that supported 168pin sdram still... that way I don't have to spend more money on ram...

hmmm, so a nice remote, os and frontend for $175. I spent $99 on my OS, $80 on my frontend, $50 on the remote, and $40 on sageTV. total $269 investment. pretty big difference. need to research MCE a little more to be sure that the recorded tv is not proprietary and see if the interface is custumizable.

I've just got around to reading HTPCnew's review of it:
All recorded TV files are what they call DVR-MS files. MAny people complain about this and swear you cant convert them to other formats or even edit the commercials out. To those people I say, do more research. Many free utilities have been around for a long time to do this and can be found all around the internet. On of my favorite MCE specific sites, The Green Button, has a few of the many available plug-ins and tools here.

I vote this be a sticky. It fell off the front page, and I like the idea. Who's the mod of this forum so we can let them know?

That would be me :D

Yeah, we can sticky this but if people start pimping their posting days will be shortened

I'm suprised how the prices on the 9800 Pro's have jumped, they use to be close to $150 making a great value, now that those 128-bit cards are out there. :(

250 gig, ide, ata 133, 8 meg cache for $109 http://shop3.outpost.com/product/3700356. Not sure what brand it is, looks to be a maxtor. If so i wouldn't recommend it for ultra-silent rigs.

Oh yea. For a budget reciever i found this Sherwood 5.1 for $77 brand new. Has a bunch of inputs in back according to the pic. I have no idea how it compares to other models but those who live near a Fry's can go instore and check it out.

And how about 512megs of PC3200 for $59? Have one, generic, works perfect, enough said.

Edit: Lite-on wireless keyboard w/built-in joystick $20 shipped.

Edit: Seagate 120gb, ide, 8mb cache, 5 year warranty $45 AR shipped

Retail Hauppauge PVR 250 $80 after a $50 mfr MIR @ CompUsa. Credit given to member JC419 and his thread in [H] deals (deal not linked)

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=310591&pfp=BROWSE

My hauppauge MFR MIR came real quick comparativly speaking. Like 5-7 weeks according to my shoddy memory :).

Fun fact: If i'm not mistaken Hauppauge is located near it's namesake on the eastern end of Long island NY where there's supposedly quite a few smallish electronics plants. Near Joey Buttofuoco's house :D j/k

1 gig of Kingston HyperX PC3200 for only $144(!!!) shipped after $20 MIR Edit: sry its a price mistake, really $174 AR

High quality gigabit switch with jumbo frames support for only $31.99 AR I have 5 rigs hooked into this bad boy and it easily ranks as one of the best purchases i've ever made. File transfers between rigs are a total non-issue. Think of jumbo frames support as almost like the ability to "overclock" the switches speeds by up to 150%. Something most gigabit switches cannot do. Your pci bus literally becomes the bottleneck.

The seagate 200gig ide is back for $69 AR: http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4008252

Full Athlon XP Matx rig for $179 + S/H: http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4199403

Polk 3 speaker tower $89 each ($178 a pair)+ S/H: http://shop1.outpost.com/product/3679035

Black Friday sales: Be sure to visit our [H]ot deals forum to check out all the BF deals. At Staples the western digital 200gb will supposedly go for $50 after the staples easy rebate, all done in-store with no stamps or cutting upc's. Great time to add some gig's for dedicated movie storage!

an addition to the post above, I took the price into Circuit City and they did the 110% PM. 3 primus 250 floor speakers for $270 total.
