Hey all,

So I am new to ESXi but want to try it out on my home server.

I downloaded what I thought was the free version of ESXi 5.0, but once I got it installed it is telling me I have a 60 day evaluation version and I will need to purchase a license after that time.

Any idea what I may have done wrong?

I find their website a confusing mess.

Much Obliged,
Matt

Login to the vmware site with your account. Go to products > free products > vSphere Hypervisor. Click download free now, then click the License and Download tab
.

To deploy the license to the server, go to vSphere Client then Go to View > Administration > Licensing and then right click the server and select change license key. This part may be different if you don't have a vCenter Server.

Thank you both.

I finally found where I could enter my free license in the Vsphere client :)

I'm enjoying this ESXi stuff. Been a long time since I learned something new like this :)
