Sadly, I have to agree. I'm a pretty big Christian (not big as in fat, but you know what I mean), and religious people drive me crazy. People are always bashing me for not going to church or anything, but dude, who can stand those people? They drive me crazy.

I think the time has come to just let people believe what they want. If they believe, then great, but if they don't, then that's their problem.

I am in no way flaming the starter of this thread, though. It's great to see something besides "FREE CONDOMS!!!!!!" :)

The Governent and Atheists have taken the words "Separation of Church and State" and completely twisted it from its original meaning so that they could have it the way they want it. The whole reason for making laws like Separation of Church and State was so that the Government could not make laws sanctioning what the Church COULD and COULD NOT do. The first charter of Virginia, granted by King James I in 1606 - - - commenced the grant in these words: ' - - in propagating of Christian Religion to such People as yet live in Darkness - - '.

Language of similar import may be found in - - the various charters granted to the other colonies. In language more or less emphatic is the establishment of the Christian religion declared to be one of the purposes of the grant. The celebrated compact made by the Pilgrims in the Mayflower, 1620, recites: 'Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and the advancement of the Christian faith - - - a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts - '.

The fundamental orders of Connecticut, under which a provisional government was instituted in 1638-1639, commence with this declaration: ' - - And well knowing where a people are gathered together the word of God requires that to maintain the peace and union - - there should be an orderly and decent government established according to God - - to maintain and preserve the liberty and purity of the gospel of our Lord Jesus which we now profess - - of said Gospel (which) is now practiced amongst us.'

In the charter of privileges granted by William Penn to the province of Pennsylvania, in 1701, it is recited: '- - no people can be truly happy, though under the greatest enjoyment of civil liberties, if abridged of - - their religious profession and worship - -.'

Coming nearer to the present time, the Declaration of Independence recognizes the presence of the Divine in human affairs in these words: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights - - appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions - - and for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.'

We find that in Updegraph v. The Commonwealth, 11 S. & R. 394, 400, it was decided that, 'Christianity, general Christianity, is, and always has been, a part of the common law - - not Christianity with an established church - - but Christianity with liberty of conscience to all men.' And in The People v. Ruggles, 8 Johns. 290, 294, 295, Chancellor Kent, the great commentator on American law, speaking as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New York, said: 'The people of this State, in common with the people of this country, profess the general doctrines of Christianity, as the rule of their faith and practice - - We are a Christian people, and the morality of the country is deeply engrafted upon Christianity, and not upon the doctrines or worship of those imposters (other religions).' And in the famous case of Vidal v. Girard's Executors, 2 How. 127, 198, this Court - - observed: 'It is also said, and truly, that the Christian religion is a part of the common law.'

There is no dissonance in these declarations. There is a universal language pervading them all, having one meaning; they affirm and reaffirm that this is a religious nation. These are not individual sayings, declarations of private persons: they are organic (legal, governmental) utterances; they speak the voice of the entire people. - - These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation."

People like to misinterpret things and twist the truth so it looks the way they want it to especially with the God vs Evolution stuff because its the easy road to just say you dont believe in God and live like however you want than it is to have faith in something that you know you'll end up paying for what you do now later on. Cause i mean if this Governemnt showed much faith in God they might have to think twice before they killed another baby or legalized homosexual marriages in this Country. I know not everyone is crazy about George Bush but he is a very open Christian and strong in what he believes in and even if he's made some bad decisions he still wasn't a puss like alot of the others would of been when it came to doing whatever it took to make the world a better place of freedom and safety.

I definitely dont see myself as a "religious" person. I'm sort of the black sheep in the family somewhat. My parents are both Pastors and part of a large organization branched out of Oklahoma here in Missouri. Right now i'm pretty much out for myself and want to have fun and have sex with my girlfriend before were married who i love and plan to marry after college :).

Im not going around claiming to be some upright perfect Christian ither. I believe there is a God and that alot of the things i do i shouldn't and that i'll probalby get to pay for some of it in the long run. But i also feel guilty for things i know i shouldn't do and try to keep from doing them as much as i can. I know when im older and have a family i'll be alot more settled as far as things "right" instead of the way i want to because it wont just be ME that im having to look out for any more.

When men go to war, one of the number one things they want to have with them is to know that there is someone out there in control of everything, watching over them and hopefully in their favor. When your buddy next to you gets his brains fucking blown all over you, you just might like to know whats going to happen after you die and whether or not your just going to be laying in the grass with some snails for an eternity or if you get roast your ass in 10,000 degrees of eternal torment and pain.

I've grown up around friends and family that have had to go to war. And my Grandpa was highly decorated Vietnam veteran. He lived like hell all his life and turned his life around on his death bed.

Even im not fucking stupid enough to deny there is a God or that he doesn't play a role in every single part of our lives and especially this Country's.
 
Geeze. I'm not a terribly religious person and I don't attend any church on a regular basis. However, it's been my not-so-limited experience that those individuals that immediately vilify religion (especially religion of the Judao-Christian variety) do so because they've either been programmed that way or they simply don't like being reminded of the wrongness in themselves.

Live and let live, or at least shut the fsck up. If you feel the need to crap on any thread concerning religion then I maintain you have a LOT of personal development to do.

You'd better go get started on that.

That has only been there since the cold war to show we were different from the communists. I dont think this was a good idea though because it spawned all kinds of religious idiots like you...

Obviously you can't get the idea of atheism through your thick skull and into your feeble mind. Atheists don't hate god, they just don't believe he exists in any way shape or form. And if there was proof enough to convince those such as myself that he exists, we still wouldn't hate him, rather, we'd hate the idiotic and hateful things his followers (such as you) have done wrongly in his name. So fine, go and listen to your terrible music and worship your invisible sky pixie but don't go and blow up when someone makes a joke, because, just as free speech gaurentees that you can say as you please, it also protects people like me and allows us to say what we please. Oh and IMHO, even barring the religious nature of the music, christian music licks monkey balls and is only surpassed in utter stupidity and unlistenability by rap & or Pop music.

If it was to show anything about us not being communists it was that we are only governed by God and serve him as in a Communist government the ruler is considered to be a god and everyone must serve and worship him. It signifies that our President is our nations ruler but our trust and faith lies in only the one God and he is who is ultimately in charge.

How can you get off calling me a religious idiot when the basis of what you believe constitutes everything coming into exististance from some "Big Bang" theory. The complexity of life on just this planet alone is not simple enough to just "come into existance" or "evolve" from absolutely nothing into something. If you want to believe you came from a monkey you go right ahead lol. If anyone is an idiot its someone that doesn't believe in something just because they might have to have some form of morals if they did. You can say there is no proof but there is plenty. People like you just dont want to look for it. They've already found evidence of such things as the chariots under the Red Sea and the rock at Mount Sinai that was split and they can show where water ran from it. There were even Christians at the 911 bombing that said they heard a voice tell them to leave the building and take everyone they could with them. There were quite a few that this happened to and they took everyone they were in charge of out of the building just SECONDS before the planes hit. And everyone wants to blame God for every bad thing that happens. God has set rules and laws since the beginning of our existance that hold everything togethor. If people break those laws and live immororal lives then sooner or later bad things are going to ither happen to you, your family, your friends, your grandchildren and so on. Its not God that does it. Its you. And this country has gone from a primarily God fearing country that had God as a major part of its existance to an immoral political wasteland thats more then likely going to not last many more years if it continues to spit in the face of God. All the great empires of the past that became immoral and idolaters fell. If you think a country can get away with killing little babies because our children want to go around and have sex when their 12 years old or that they can go out and support gay marriages, or live for no other reason than to make money and watch others suffer, i suggest you take a lesson out of the history books.

So since this thread isn't about Atheistism or swinging around in trees, why dont all you "intellectuals" go eat a banana and shut the hell up. I do believe in evolutioin in the sense that organisms have the ability to better adapt to their surroundings. That part is a scientific fact. And im glad it is, because otherwise i would have no way of explaining how some of you have managed to de-evolve from humans into some hybrid species that are total idiots lol.
