Defending the current administration's policies by citing another administration's policies is not an argument.

It's calling out the hypocrisy.... It's calling out the blatant Stockholm syndrome.

Well it's only hypocrisy if he defends one administration and attacks the other. If they're both attacked on the same grounds, it's consistent, although that doesn't fit neatly into the "my side v. yours" narrative that nearly all politics like to fall under.
