So there I was rummaging through my spare parts shed. (Yes I have a spare parts shed, it's 8'x10' and just tall enough to continually hit my head while rummaging)
When I happened upon a box full of old P3s from the first farm duallies.

Nothing fancy, just a dozen or so 866 and 933 socket370 stuff.

Also found:
pair of Duron 1.3s modded for SMP
pair of original AMD 1.2MPs

a few old spitfire durons of the 800-850 range
a TBird ot two (1.4s)

You know, the typical geek stuff that collects around casa relic.

Might be useful to an established [H] DCer.
Drop me a PM if you can provide a good home.

It's NST6563, however, folding is *REALLY* slow on the machine I have it running on (Celeron 400 :( ) and I haven't put it back on my main rig since it's not on all the time (usually only when working from home or gaming, otherwise it's shut off to keep the kids off it).

I'll make you a deal.
You change your team # from default to 33 and start folding again.
I'll send you whatever your mobo will support (if I have it) for cost of shipping. Fair enough?

Oh, and welcome to the team. :)

I'm interested. I have no money in digital form, only cash, and do not currently fold, though I'm willing to start with a decent processor. Currently running 600 Celeron which barely makes deadlines.

Ok. You'll fold...I'll send you a CPU. Seems fair. :)
What CPU can you handle?

866 P3. I am very grateful. I am your bitch now. ;) :p

You are welcome, thanks for helping out the [H] DC team.
PM me an address, make sure you put what CPU you need in the PM.

..and welcome to the [H]orde. :D

Ok, I've changed the team to 33 and re-installed on my gaming rig.

The machine that needs an upgrade only supports 100Mhz fsb. I have a NEO-S370 adapter that I can use for a flipchip also. Do you have anything that will run close to 1Ghz on 100fsb?

Yeah, I've got a P3-700 100fsb and a P3-800 100fsb. Both Socket 370. Anything over that is 133fsb.

I've also got a 600/512k and an 800/256k slot 1s. Both at 100FSB

Check your Mobo or post the specs here and we'll see what will fit. Any P3 will be faster than a celery, but hopefully the 800 will work.

well, it's a Dell Optiplex Gx100...so it's not a slot 1 (although I do have a couple of those somewhere, not sure if they still work though). I can raise the FSB to 112 through CPUfsb and already have 512mb PC133 ram in it.

My references say that a GX100 supports a maximum of a Celeron 500, no P3 support or 133 fsb support.
Sorry, I don't have anything that will fit in that box. :(

my celeron 800 socket 370 could use an upgrade... i can run it at 133 for 1.03 ghz.. but it still folds about 8 times slower than my A-XP computer... i also have 2 ecs boards that are both socket 370 and slot 1... i have a pIII 750 slot 1 in one of them... the other is collecting dust... i am going to europe on tues and won't get back until sept 23rd though... but once i get back i want to get more stuff set up.. so anyways.. if you have any of that stuff left in late sept, i could put it to use....

but it will using the NEO-S370 that I have.

no biggie though, it's the wife's PC...she just uses it for Internet.

Oops. A NEO S370 would let you use a P3.
My bad, sorry. PM me an address and I'll send you the fastest 100fsb P3 I have.

Powerleap can fix many problems.

:)

I've got an old slot 1 motherboard that i can use for folding if you would be willing to send me a processor.

anything that would work in a socket 462 and you'd have a dedicated folding machine. I have enought spare parts to put something together, all I need is a cpu and some ram. :D

lemme get the 700/100 P3, i have a dualie with one Slot1 700/100 in it atm

have another dualie mobo with only one proc but that has a Slot1 PIII 850/100 in it :\

both of said boards only support 100mhz fsb cpu's which are kinda hard to come by... :(

if its a 370 thats ok i have a few old slockets from the ol' days hehe ;)

Sure, I got 'em . PM me folks.
I just need an address, part you need, and a folding handle.

FLECOM...how am I gonna catch you if I send you CPUs? ;)
I've still got one socket370 P3-700 left. It's yours. PM me an address.

Everything was light enough to go first class mail.
Which means it cost about $1.00 - $1.50 each, including the padded envelope.
It's on me this time around. :)

The following shipped today:

racercarl 2 P3s and a Duron
nst6563 - 1 P3
CBR - 1 P3
T-3 - 2 MPs
FLECOM - 1 P3
RedShred - 1 P3
dr_dirtnap - 1 TB, 1 Duron

Enjoy.

Just in case you're not on the list above.
If you've PMed me I'll get to your request when I have time.

Processors are distributed on a first PM - first serve basis...until my patience or CPUs run out. ;)

Thanks Relic, the cpu's will go for the cause.... Now, before I took a break from folding after I graduated college, I remember a weekly Sunday Sermon, maybe it is a tradition we should start back up.

I just offered the office next door to my office internet access through my T1 in exchange to allow me to run Folding on their machines. Not a bad deal. Hopefully I will get to borg their machines this week. I think they have 5 pc's in their office, possibly ordering more.

So with the machines I will be able to add from Relic's generous donation, hopefully I will be able to add another 10ghz or so in the next few weeks!

That's the way you do it...money for nothing, get your chicks for free. ;)

and for everyone else

I don't scan posts/threads for what you need.
PM's are what I ship from.
It's the only way I can keep track of things.

AWWW, relic you're so nice!

Just wanted to send a huge thank you out to relic.

I just got the CPU today, and ive already started doin the shuffle.

I got the new cpu installed in an existing box, and going to install the 1 gig tbird in an empty motherboard that I have.

i have a dual 370 board lying around with no cpus... its at home and i wont be there until october, but if you still have a couple by then i'd be glad to put them to good use

Just send me a PM, when you get home.

Have an extra cpu still? Used to have a p3 667 that o/c'd like crazy, but there was a sad accident:( A slot or socket cpu is fine for my folding box, Its a asus p3b-f.

I would be more then happy to also use my main rig on your folding team:)

Thanks,

I'd ask for a PIII from someone but I don't know if the motherboard is any good. I got it for free from a friend a few weeks ago, but I don't want to get a CPU from someone and find out the board is bad and then have a CPU sitting around that I can't put to use that someone else could have used.

Gotta close this thread down for a week or two until the old stock gets a refill.
