Game crashes by the second fly-by of the jet for hot wheels intro race. The massive amount of stability and technical issues FH5 has had from the start killed my enthusiasm for the game, sadly.
Set your Shader Quality to match Environment Texture Quality.

We’re aware of a crash to desktop on the PC version of Forza Horizon 5 in certain locations including the Hot Wheels Expedition. This occurs if the “Shader Quality” is set to Ultra or higher while the “Environment Texture Quality” is High or below.

As we develop a fix for this incompatibility, we recommend ensuring that “Shader Quality” is Ultra or Extreme, only if “Environment Texture Quality” is also set to Ultra or Extreme.

For the Gamepass folks that have never played Forza Horizon 4 (not 5) - give it a go. On my machine it looks and runs basically the same. Things are a little less cluttered with cameras/signs/challenges/etc. but it's otherwise just like playing 5 in a totally new setting.

I love these new features but I hate that it comes 12+ months after release when most people will have already finished the game...same with Doom Eternal ray-tracing support (1 year later), Elden Ring ray-tracing (10+ months later), Cyberpunk 2077 Enhanced ray-tracing Overdrive mode (2+ years later), Plague Tale: Requiem ray-tracing (coming soon)

I'm really interested in seeing the visuals with RT Extreme settings...should be stunning!

Q: What are the differences between each of the ray tracing options in Forza Horizon 5?

The Medium and High settings function as before, with ray tracing exclusively rendering in Forzavista...Meanwhile, the Ultra and Extreme options expand ray tracing to Photo Mode, Free Roam and Races...Some ray tracing settings and scenarios will render reflections at half resolution, while others render at full resolution. Please refer to the table below for the breakdown on a per-setting, per-scenario basis:

Uhhh are you gonna notice RT at 200mph? lol It's cool for photos or maybe replays but in gameplay with this style of game idk. Currently I can do 4K HDR Maxed (no motion blur) at 120hz VRR and it's smooth af. Don't really see a benefit outside photos I guess.

you can say the same for RT with any game...will it matter in Flight Simulator 2020, Elden Ring, Doom Eternal etc?...improved image quality is always a good thing especially when a game already looks pretty close to photorealistic like Forza Horizon 5

Don't get me wrong I like RT and welcome it. Just amusing to me of driving fast in the game while trying to pay attention to real time reflections that's all. Tho I did stop an admire the RT in Doom Eternal.. gotta take a breather before the next battle.

Reflections are the least important thing to me in ray tracing, and it's the only thing they're implementing in this game.

RT reflections are more important in a racing game because of all the reflective surfaces...would have been ideal if they added it to the AI cars in the actual races versus just in Photo Mode but I'm guessing would have been too resource intensive...normally for me the most important RT feature is global illumination

I'm totally down for some rally action. I absolutely loved those early Colin McRae/Dirt Rally games. Combine that with Forza Horizon 5, and that seems like a huge win IMO.

So they added rally to a game that had rally. Looked like most of the cars were already in the game as well. So whats the deal here? Is the map different? Seems very fluff.

So I just fired this game up for the first time in a long time, wanted to check out the stuff they added like ray tracing, dlss etc and also check out how the 4090 I got last week does in this game. I'm getting constant 120fps on the benchmark, thinking everything is great, then when I start driving around the game world I'm having a "low streaming bandwidth" message pop up. It's giving me flashbacks to forza horizon 3 that had a similar problem at launch, I don't get it. It's not even pushing the card to the max.

Could be an I/O issue too.

Ja, low streaming bandwidth is indicative of data transfer between storage and memory being slow. If the game is already installed on a SSD and you have no memory issues I'd try reinstalling the game.

So we just started playing this one this week. When we drive around we dont see each other, but see plenty of other people. What is with that??

if you just started, i think theres a certain point in the story line where the "drivatars" change to actual players. I cant remember how far into it tho.

Yes, if I remember correctly you have to unlock your first festival site before online mode is unlocked. The game forces you to do some events which constitute the tutorial.
