So my boss' old security camera recording computer decided to break, and what did he do with it? chucked it in the skip out the back of work. I raided it and managed to score 3 90mm fans and 2 maxtor IDE hard-drives. rest of it was crap (single stick of 233mhz ram and a 200w psu)
How do i go about formatting these? is it as simple as plugging them in and booting windows then formatting? or do i need to worry about jumpers etc etc? i dont even know if they work and i don't want to know whats on them, i just want to do a format and if they work, wonderful! and if they don't, meh they were free
hdd 1
maxtor 4D040H2 40gb ultra ata 5400rpm
hdd 2
maxtor YAR41VWO 120gb diamondmax plus 9 120gb ata
they are both ata drives so i don't even know if its worth it tbh.
I currently have 1 x 320 seagate sata, and 1 x 120 seagate sata in my rig, my 320 is partioned as my C and E drives, and the 120 is my D drive.
is this going to be more complicated than its worth?
