Does formatting your hard drive make you lose disk space. Like say if you have a 40gb hard drive and u format it more than once will it still hold 40gb?

Thanks

It does not lose any space but....

What is advertised as a 40GB drive is not a 40GB drive.

HD manufacturers say 1000MB = 1GB, this is not a true lie, but it is misleading as operating systems and computer say that 1024MB = 1GB since in the world of computers, everything is binary. So your 40GB drive will end up being approx a 39GB drive according to your PC.
