our company is starting to decommission desktops that have liteon m2 ssd's in them. all of my typical software to nuke hdd don't seem to be working for these.

what other option do i have to nuke these things?

Secure Erase gets rid of the mapping table, sanitize actually erases the blocks as well. The latter is preferred if you're selling the drive or something. In this case (decommissioning) I'd probably go with sanitize.

Our decomm place provides a certificate of destruction for our hdd's.
Maybe that's an option with yours?

cheaper overall to just pull and crack in half?

open lid, unscrew, crack, put screw back in, close lid
vs
hookup to monitor/kb/mouse/power, boot into cd or usb, run wipe, yank cords

we're a financial institution so the ncua has to see a record of all decommissioned computers and the amount of certified destroyed drives has to match.
