ForceWare 61.72 Windows 2000/XP WHQL

You can pick them up over at Guru3D.
Thanks, I tried the 62.01 betas and my video playback turned to crap!! I gotta watch my cartoons man, Aqua Teen Hunger Force keeps me level. :)

Almost 4 months since their last official release, they need to get on the ball.

Have been using those...they came with my PNY. Since yesterday have been using 61.80 betas.

Latest version on their site is still 56.72, so this isn't an official release, even though it may be WHQL certified, it isn't on their site for public consumption.

rumour is sometime this week, i wouldnt be surprised if it was the same day as the farcry 1.2 patch. but /shrug 61.71 have been so good ive never bothered with trying the others.

dont forget ATHF is on 2 episodes every night. and the 2nd dvd edition hits shelves any day now.

I dont mind using beta sometimes, but when you're forced to, its annoying. Ive read threads on most beta drivers, and lots of people are having problems, thats why I want an official release. I really dont think its asking too much.

yea, I just put on one of the latest WHQL releases, the 61.34's, and it dropped my 5900xt oc by 20/30 :( I had the 56.something's.

I hope that gets fixed in one of the next versions.

You'll have problems in certain games even with official releases. WHQL really doesn't mean much. I tried the 61.36's which are labeled as WHQL and got a BSOD when i tried to load Morrowind. I've been running the 61.71's though because thats what alot are running and i havn't had any issues yet.

What card are you running anyways?

I know WHQL doesnt mean a whole lot, but it does mean its their best driver at the time. I would just like ONE driver, not the several betas out. They are betas for a reason, because they are not the best.

I have a BFG 6800 GT on the way today. I traded a guy my X800 Pro for it, because I want DD's new waterblock for it. They dont make one for the X800 Pro. :( I consider this match just about even, so the little things like this matter to me. He got my card yesterday, and is supposed to ship out mine today, 2 day air.

So hopefully in two days.. we'll have some. But Im not holding my breath.

WHQL means they paid Micrsoft to test it. It does not mean it's their "best one".

WHQL means absolutely nothing, concerning stability or greatest up-to-date performance. Experienced users know this.

The overall rule for nVidia drivers: use whichever version works best for your system.

I agree.

Some have been using the 61.36's WHQL's without issue on nV News but i installed them and got a BSOD and reboot as soon as i tried to load Morrowind. There are people also testing the new 61.72's and 62.01's and some have great performance while others get BSOD's. I havn't had an issue with the 61.71's though.

Its best just to try out each one and find the one that gives you the BEST performance in the games YOU play. Most of us have a handful of games we play and the performance for the drivers in other games doesn't really mean anything to us.

It means its on their site, and official. I dont like the beta games NV plays.

I just need to add that I love nVidia for giving us new drivers all the time, more choices = good.

Would it really make you feel better if it were on their site? All drivers are always beta. Look at ATI's release notes in their "official WHQL" drivers. Looks like beta to me!

ATi rarely have beta leaks, they've had three in the past forever.

There is nothing wrong with wanting offical drivers. I really dont care what any of you think, no offense. I want official drivers, and they're slacking on it. Case closed for me.

I'd say the drivers are official drivers. Anyone contesting that they came from NVIDIA?

So official, they are not on NV's website.

Im done with this, I want official drivers. And thats not too much to ask. I shouldnt have to go hunt down drivers on various websites, and try several different ones to find out which beta driver is best. Ive done it several times before, but to be honest I just dont have the time to uninstall and reinstall multiple drivers to find the best ones.

yeah, us ATi boyz are spoiled with Catalyst updates every other week. :D

(errr, what a minute. I just installed a 6800 GT so I guess I'm an nVidia goon now. :D )

According to Nvidia official drivers and the 6800 demos will be posted on the website early next week.

BTW I just got through testing the WHQL 61.72's and wound up loosing like 5 FPS in Far Cry 1600x1200, that and there is a massive glitch in them on Pier, started seeing all sorts of weird banding effects.

when I updated to this version from the last whql I have had better stability in CS

I tried the 62.01 and the 61.72 WHQLs and I'm still limited by the EDID in my monitor. I can't get past 1280x1024 :(

Where are the 61.74s and that registry patch?

The 61.34's came with my GT and performance has been stellar

3dchipset.com has some 62.01's if you finished testing the 61.80's. =)

Yeah but guru3d has popup's, lame download packaging, and a right click block that bothers the crap outa me.

Get SP2, it's popup blocker is perfect so far, best thing since sliced bread.

While I wouldn't praise it that much, it is a damn nice improvement over SP1.

Overclocking/volt-modding/hack and slash = OK
Using non-WHQL drivers = Immoral

Do I have this right?

I notice HardOCP has no problems reviewing MoBos with beta BIOSes... ;)

i am with you on this one, i hate that about nvidia, and i havent made my choice, and although atis brilinear doesnt worry me, this does, i hate having to fish for beta drivers and then having to bench and see what works.

i currently own ati, and i really didnt like 4.1 or was it 3.10 i dont remeber, but the rest have been smooth. dont leak drivers, have beta testers and the do official releases, that way when something goes wrong if it does you can submit the errors to nvidia, but with leaked drivers :(

That's why you let others test the drivers before you install them. ;)
