IF you could have whatever you wanted with an upcoming official (non-beta) release what would you want?

Mine would be:
1. SMP support (currently its only beta)
1b. would throttle to fewer cores if you were using your computer, and use all available cores when idle. ie: with a quad, maybe use 3 cores when you're using the computer normally, maybe only 2 if you were gaming. And on a normal dual core, only use 1 core while you're using your PC for surfing, etc.

2. Show actual graphical representation of the molecules its folding (I know this is a big stretch and would probably waste too much resources)

3. Show a status % bar in the taskbar, similar to a battery meter icon in the taskbar on laptops.

4. Show how many points the WU you're doing is worth. (I know they have other apps like foldingmonitor, or whatever that do this, but why not have it integrated one day)

5. Better stability. I mean this shouldn't really need to be on a wish list, but I find there's times where it hangs or shuts down/errors at the end of a work unit while trying to get a new one, etc. It might be b/c I used like the 6.x SMP version instead of the 5.9x version, etc.

Right now, my only wishes are:

1. A way to monitor temps using diskless client
2. A program that would install and run all the programs necessary to borg a computer, hide the client and allow it to continue folding while logged off.

A way to remotely control the settings on individual boxen similar to the BOINC client.
Stability, stability, stability.
Better resource management.
Server side: work units assigned to boxen found to be the best at processing them.

Truthfully, the server side enhancement would probably be the best thing to happen to F@H in a very very long time.

I was thinking a true dual core client for dual core cpu's.
With the new A2 client work units getting bigger and more of a memory hog, having a client 1/2 way between the console client and the SMP client would be usefull.
Re-bench the bread & butter work units ( p2605, 2653.) or tweak some of the bigger console work-unit.
Aim to bench them so they give ~150 PpDpGhz with is slightly slower than the true SMP client.
You would then need to add a new switch so you can set the number of cores you want the V6 client to run.

I probably wont use it but I'm sure there is a lot of folders that this would help.

Luck ............... :D

They had a working BOINC client not too long ago but chose not to release it IIRC. There's plenty of other things to love about BOINC too.
