IT'S OVER 9000!

well its 20k to be exact, got the cpu and both card temps under control, god it seems like it took forever. It seems like the cpu is not performing like it was with only one card in the mix,was averaging about 7.5kppd now its running at 4.4k on a 6701,not sure if that is normal or if adding the second card really killed that much performance.

(EVGA)GTX 260 #1
Core: 626
Shader:1548
Temps: 68C @ 75% fan

(XFX)GTX 260 #2
Core: 626
Shader: 1512
Temp:53C @ 75% fan

CPU
Core:3.5Ghz
Temp:54C(still a little high for my liking, but got a new cooler on the way)

It seems as though the fan and/or shroud on the XFX can not dissipate the heat that builds up on the shroud,it was so hot I could not touch it,so I added a fan to blow directly on the card and it appears to have knocked 15C-20C off the temp of the card, which seems just amazing to me,especially after changing the thermal paste to some noctua nt-h1 that I had and cleaning the dust and dirt that built up in the fins of the heat sink only knocked about 7C-10C off the load temps.

Also,What do you guys think of the zalman VF3000 series VGA coolers?they look pretty nice and have an all copper base, they may be able to put up with some serious heat.

Nice. Your circuit breakers must be making a distinct buzz that helps you sleep.

As for the Zalman aftermarker cooler. Don't bother, my experience with 260's is that the limiting factor in their overclock is not heat based. Even if you hardware mod to up the voltage (though some 260's can increase the voltage with software alone) you'll still not come close to hitting the thermal limits on the stock HSF. The thermal limits of the 260's is about 105 C so you have quiet a bit of margin left. Save your money and buy some more GPU's :D

nice.. yeah the PPD loss sounds about right. i do 3900ish @ 3.4ghz with 2 8800GS's running the gpu3 client and around 4200ish with 1 card on gpu3. and 4400ish with no cards. the gpu3 client is a little more cpu hungry then the gpu2 client but the p11179 WU's make up for that difference since i do about 5300-5600 PPD instead of the 4300-4600 PPD on the gpu2 client. mind you the gpu3 client still sucks ass on the G200 cards so dont bother thinking about switching.

why are you AMD guys so afraid of CPU temps?

(Looks at Intel Xeon hitting 85c :p)

oh btw I have a Athlon II X4 propus currently folding at roughly 80c in my bedroom HTPC. The box sure is quiet though :)

80C. ill give it about 3-4 weeks before it dies. since AMD processors cant handle the same amount of heat as an intel processor and those are only rated for a maximum of 72C.

hmm you don't say.

Oh I just double checked and the cores are at 52c

I think it was in the 80s before I upgraded heatsinks.

Still deadly quiet. Underclocked at 2ghz at 1.0v
