flickering screen issue

My screen seems to have developed a problem where it flickers slightly (goes darker for half a millisecond then goes to normal, this happens at random but usualy between 3 and 8 seconds apart, is there any way to fix this?

edit: It's really bad when changing the brightness setting.

It is possible the ccfl are going bad which means time for RMA or a new monitor if out of warranty.

I don't think it has warranty i got it off ebay and it's been replaced once already, its a Dell 2709W

Call dell. That monitor should have a service tag. They can tell you if there is an warranty or not.

Also: try hooking up a different monitor. If you see the same symptoms on a different monitor, it is possible your video card might be going out. Not likely, but possible.

I tried this on my mates monitor and it doesn't do it, it also does it on the monitors diagnostics test

+1; I second that. If it is out of warantee, then it is junk, time for a new one.
