The system in my sig has recently been giving me a little hic cup. When I power it up, the display flickers for about 10 secs before it stabilizes and then it's fine. It's wasn't doing this before. Is this possibly a driver issue? I have version 11.11 CCC from 12/12/11. I believe there is another available now. Just wondering if this sounds driver related or hardware ( monitor is going on 4-5 yrs now- everything else is new).

Thanks :)

updated drivers to the latest and still getting this flickering for about 10 secs when 1st booting up. No ideas? Anyone?

honestly it could be a lot of things. Maybe a bad OC on the video card? maybe bad memory on the video card? Maybe the pc is OCed too much? but if it was, it might have caused other problems too. Just too many factors...

I also have the flickering display issue, though I am 100% stock. I am assuming that this along with a minor artifacting issue is a driver problem. I flicker 2-3 time upon start up and then all is well. This just started after the new drivers were released.

Very strange. Anyone else have the same issues?

I thought I was running a mild OC, but I wasn't. Stock all around. Glad to hear someone else has this issue. It started before I updated to the latest drivers. The latest drivers didn't change anything. When I boot up, the screen flickers for about 10 secs or so till I get to the log in screen, flickers a little while longer then it's gone. Very puzzling and somewhat annoying:(

Check your cables, make sure they are plugged in fully, and try to replace them if possible. As a last resort try to RMA the card? I have never experienced this myself so i cant help that much.

This could be the monitor. I have seen this effect on a few Samsung monitors at work. Actually it started like this then extended to 5 minutes on 1 and total death on a second. The problem with these supposedly is a bad power supply on the lcd.

well I would definitely rather it be the monitor than the card. Hate to pull the card out and not have a working pc till Sapphire gets around to sending me a replacement. I can get a decent monitor for about $200. Beats spending almost $300 to get a comparable card to "tide me over" and then have to unload the RMA card on the FS threads.

Thanks

checked all the cables almost already. Learned my lesson way back when I thought my pc died (kinda wanted it to), salvaged parts and sold cheap to my friend who later told me everything worked fine. Turned out the monitor end of the DVI cable had worked loose:eek:

dug out a backup lcd monitor into my computer prior to initiating an RMA with Sapphire. Glad I did, the flickering on bootup went away! Figured this saved me about $300 since I was convincing myself that I needed an HD 7970 to "tied my over" till my rma came back:D. Now all I have to do is get a replacement monitor.
