Flashed bios OK, but no boot with new CPU

I flashed the BIOS for my motherboard (Asus A7A266), and it worked great. It showed it had updated and booted into windows. I put in a new CPU and it won't POST or anything. The motherboard doesn't have a jumper to clear the CMOS, I have to short the two nodes manually. I tried pulling the battery out and leaving it out all night, without any luck. Help!?
 
I checked the Asus website and it supports up to XP2600 (266 FSB). Even it it wasn't officially supported it should default to the lower clock speed.
