This is my first time building a computer, I'm a little scared but I'v been doing some research on a few parts but other then that I'm a complete Newb at this stuff. :p

But I do have Case and this video card to start me off and I was wondering if you guys could help me.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$500-$550 with tax and shipping
3) Where do you live?
North Fort Myers, Florida
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
PSU, Motherboard, CPU, RAM, HD, DVD Drive
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Case: COOLER MASTER Elite 371, HIS IceQ Radeon HD 5670 1GB
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
19", but will be upgrading to a 24" in the next few months
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
End of June
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Crossfire
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
No, would like Window 7 64-bit

Hey bud, hippy from EVE.

I'm glad you decided to post on here, these guys will probably be able to help you the most out of everyone and I'll also do my best to help you out as well. Your budget isn't to bad, especially since you will be able to grab nearly all of your parts off of here or using newegg, or amazon for fairly cheap. You're going to end up with a pretty decent system. It won't be mine of course (ha!), but you will still have a nice little starter rig.

End of June

Despite jctusmc03's endorsements :)D), we can't help you so early. Basically you're planning this build too soon. There's a good chance that the parts we recommend this month may not be available in June. If the end of June is the earliest you can build the PC, then I highly recommend that you come back when in mid-June and ask for advice then. You'll get up-to-date advice and info on the latest deals.

Also, you're looking at a new GPU since that HD 5670 1GB is too slow for for a 24" monitor.

Ok, I'll check back then. The vid card my grandfather got me cause he had credit at CompUsa. I havn't decided wether I want to stick with my 19" Acer monitor or get a new one, only reason I said 24" is cause my iMac (Thats what I use to play Eve not bad looking but old vid card) is 24" screen so thats what I'm used to.

I agree with Danny in regards to the time frame and the video card.

Since you're not starting your build for about another month, could you add an additional $100 or $200 to your budget?

It will be hard, since our car insurance just went up by $150 so I'm trying. But the video card I'd use for now, and maybe a little bit down the road I'd get a new one (Why spend money for something now when I'd probably replace it 6months from now). Tho only problem I have atm is, looking at the CPU's and picking either Intel or AMD, I don't know which way to go (I know Intel is better but pricey'er).

Anyway Thank guys, so far this forum set has alot of info that I'v been looking for from experts. :D

AMD is pretty much your only choice due to your budget

anyway, as well as prices being a little cheaper later down the road, by the end of june there will be a greater variety of CPU's to choose from. with amd releasing their new BD chip, there should be a pricing shake-up across all cpu's

It's the same as always really. As soon as a new platform is released all of the older platforms drop in price.

Also, I think you will be able to get a dual core Intel chip Soul, but you won't be in the quad core price range for the chip and components needed to make it smoke until you've gotten another $200-300 together. I wasn't aware your price range was so low, I was expecting around $1000 or so. I'd suggest you mow a lot of yards and ask neighbors if they need some things done this summer. The more you earn now the more badass computer your going to start with and the less you have to upgrade it down the road for a while. That way you can spend all of your money on hookers and blow. Win win IMO. Anyways, just hit me up in EVE or PM me on here if you have any questions. Or just keep posting in this thread with questions and letting us know if you can get some more money together during the summer and what your new limit will be. :D

aphasia, just revisit this thread when you're ready to buy everything.

And let us know then whether or not your budget has increased.
