First FPS for you?

Wolf3D was the first one for me. My first multiplayer was Rise of the Triad. I loved that game and me and my friends would have a hell of time with it. Nothing like the heat seeking rocket launcher. :D

Probably Golden Eye for me, but it was Counter-Strike that got me hooked :D
ditto, i played goldeneye on 64 but then played cs when 1.5 was out and coudn't stop from there on

Wolfenstien For my Power Macintosh :D
LEDOUX I still remember the password for god mode.

Golden Eye was where the majority of my all nighters were though, back in the day when you had to sleep over at the friends house ;) :p :D

My first FPS was DOOM in '94. I had just gotten my first computer (P90, 24MB RAM and 17" monitor for $5k!). I spent the first week trying to figure out how to steer, while taking breaks to puke from motion sickness.

It was the most fun I had in ages! :D

Wolfenstien
Doom
Duke Nukem 3D
Goldeneye 64
Quake/Quakeworld
Quake 2 (action quake 2 for a huge duration)
Half-Life
UT
Quake3

wolfenstein, doom, rise of the triad, basically ive played every major fps since they came out.

Old school FPS > new school.

action quake 2 needs to become action quake 4

Wolfestein3d my first FPS
and Ultima underworld RPG but was using the view of FPS

just the thrill of playing Wolf3d back then, was awsome

Well, my first would easily have to be the Battlezone arcade game.
For PC it was Wolf3D. I had just joined the Air Force and the guys in my first office were playing it. I played and got hooked. After that I played most the FPS games released.. Doom/Doom2, Corridor7, ROTT, Dark Forces, System Shock, Descent, Duke3D, Quake, etc etc all the way to Doom3.

Darkangel, yes a lot of us played Doom, but the question is your "first FPS". Doom came out a couple years after Wolf3D.

I remember seeing a friend play Wolfenstein 3D in '93. I thought that shit was hot...before that the only games I played were craptastic educational games on Apples in, at the time, elementary school (remember Number Crunchers anyone).

The first FPS I actually played was Doom sometime around '94 on the 486 that my parents had. I loved that game. I remember our family shelling out $200 for an external 28.8 kbps modem. After that my friend and I would always be playing each other (while rendering our phonelines busy...indefinetly until further notice ;) ).

I remember beating my friend so bad some days that he would disconnect from the game so that his actual character wouldn't disconnect...it'd take me 10 min on some of the larger levels to notice that I was playing by myself :p

First FPS I ever played was Wolf3D on my oldest brothers PC

Then I bought Doom 1 Shareware

Not really sure which i played first either doom, or wolf 3d, didnt start to really like them until goldeneye then i was hooked, Perfect Dark was great fun also. belive i liked that more than golden eye then i started to move away from console fps. and went to RTCW then i stopped playing that for SoF2. stopped playing SoF2 when BF1942 came out and played as one of the (Few) aEm members. aEm = Army of the Epileptic Monkey's
. I'm currently playing BF2 as a member www.Team-Warchild.com i play under the name warchild.WildAce.aem i still sport the aEm tag cause im a monkey for life :p .

i know this is more than my first fps, but im bored waiting for my x2 3800+ which get here tomarrow :D

Wolf3d, Blakestone, and Rise of the Triad are some of my fond memories in early FPS gaming :)

Catacomb Abyss -> Marathon -> Wolfenstein 3D -> Doom

Catacomb Abyss was first...

Wolf3d, I can't believe my mom let me get the shareware version!

When I told my older brother about the game he was all like 'NO way you can move around and shoot at things!??!'

lol.. man those were the days.. :D

man if i really go back. It'd be Pool of radiance for Macintosh SE/30. Part of the game was FPS.... err... S = SpellChucker.

Wolfenstein 3D from ID software. I had many hours of fun with the demo before I eventually got the full game. I played Doom after that. Doom was a pain because I needed a special boot disk to run it. LOL!

the first that i actually liked and became addicted to was quake 3 arena, i played doom II for a little while, but never really liked it too much

after quake 3 is was counterstrike 1.2 i believe

I think I started off (like alot of people here) playing Wolfenstein 3D. I know Doom was in the mix then as well but I think I didn't play it until after Wolf.

I can. I've got one of those 5.25" / 3.5" dual drives that had both in 5.25" form factor drive. It's in my Athlon64 box right now :)
