First FPS for you?

Command and Conquer: Renegade.

I played mostly RTS games, Age of Empires. Red Alert 2 etc... Then my friend introduced me to Renegade and got me hooked on FPS. :)

now I play CS and Americas Army

First FPS i've seen was Doom I.

Can't remember the title of the first FPS i've played, but it was a shareware that was a lot like Wolfenstein3D, but the goal was to save your Dog.

After that, i got DoomII. I didn't come across the first Doom 'til later.

And to the guy who said 640k was enough for anyone, i hope you die a horrible death.

bill gates? :) but seriously you gotta respect him for what he did with windows and stuff

And don't deny that Duck Hunt is an FPS

Your right! Your actually in the game! :p If that counts then it was that for me, but not much as I didnt own a NES until college :(

wolfenstein 3d shareware....came with a soundcard i bought to put in our shiny new 486 sx 25mhz. fell in love with the game, so i ordered the entire game directly from id software on a single 3.5" floppy disk.

Wolfenstein 3d/Doom. Boy those 2 sure made 8th grade typing class so much fun. :D

That was before I knew what I was doing on a pc and the instructor installed those on all the machines for when we got finished with the lessons. That was an incentive to learn to type faster.

Oh.. I forgot about Xybots... anyone remember playing that one at the arcade?

Wolf3D

Its making me feel old when I'm seeing these kids say Golden Eye, and Duke Nukem 3D :(

Wolf 3d was the first one I had seen (my Uncle's). Doom shareware and DoomII were the first I had on my own machine SWEET! That was pretty much it for me for many years but then many moons later I got a rig and got into UT99, but it was a year or two old. Since then I wouldnt hesitate for a second to tell you FPS is my favorite genre.

Wolfenstein 3D, i played on one of those laptops with the little red nubby mouse in the middle :p i don't think that game had mouse control anyway though. But it sure was fun.

Battlefield 1942 (this is on the PC, right? if not, quake 2 on Playstation)

I managed to enjoy it even though i was on 56k, was kicked from every server i tried to join, got 12 fps when i did manage to get in on account of not having a GPU (onboard), and my computer crashed whenever it tried to laod a good map, such as el alamein

Counter-Strike. I actually bought HL, installed CS and played it imediatly, before HL even...that was on blind luck.

Mine was Wolfenstein 3D, Apogee's Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, Rise of the Triad, Doom 1/2, and my all time favorite Duke Nukem 3D.

Question for all of you. What was your first FPS game, if you can remember, and what was it like for you?

Mine was Duke Nukem for N64. Got it for christmas when I was still used to old racing games and RPG's and Mario/Zelda/Starfox. It was difficult getting used to, but fun as hell, AND addicting! Then my comp got an upgrade and I was hooked. Now, thats basically all I play, except for the starcraft here and there ;) Can never kill a classic! :D

The first FPS I played was the first PC game I played - Doom of course. Those were good times when I was 9 years old.

Ahh yea that was it, Blake Stone!

Hah, I played this game too! I bought a shareware disk of it at a store for like $5. I loved it to death!

But my first fps was probaly Wolf 3D.

First FPS was Wolf 3D

First FPS I played multiplayer was Jedi Knight (1)

Funnily enough, a while after I bought Jedi Knight, we made our own home network, THEN we played Doom over it. Just a little late :)

I'm a latecomer at this thing... my first on the computer was Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. I still love that game.

I might have played Halo on my buddies' XBox before that... not sure.

The first was Doom on a friends PC. Pirated, even. (A stack of floppies with arj volumes. Ah, the memories.)
The first I played for any notable amount of time was Quake (MP) at school. I beat my teacher a few times. :)
The first one I knew I had to have for myself was UT.

Doom on the family computer...little bit of DOS action. I still have never played it networked. As a pre-teen/teen then it was hard actually finding people who played any PC game, let alone an FPS.

Quake came out shortly after I got my own rig. Ah, the memories of QWTF.
