1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly just gaming, movies schoolwork etc.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Don't want to spend more than $1500 for everything, mainly trying to get best bang for my buck.

3) Where do you live?
Canada, shopping at ncix as they pm most other Canadian sites.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
Need everything except kb mouse speakers.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Don't have anything to reuse :) Been on a dell laptop for 5yrs or so.

6) Will you be overclocking?
I'd like to try some mild/moderate OC, nothing crazy.

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Monitor is one thing I'm undecided about, I've chosen the asus 26in 1920x1200 because I got a good deal on it.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Want to buy hopefully before next wed, when all the sales change and I'll have to change everything.

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Don't know much about motherboards, but probably will not need any of those.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Yup.

Well I've been putting off getting a new computer for awhile, but it seems the new nvidia cards aren't anything special and prices don't seem to be going down any time soon. So decided to just say screw it and get one now. Here are the following parts I've picked out, I don't know much at all so open to suggestions on any of them.

Gigabyte P55A-UD3 http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=46237 $140

coolermaster cpu heatsink http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=41337 $22
EA650 PSU http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=30037 $78
antec 300 case http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=29812&promoid=1101 $54

Total $1300+tax

The prices listed are ones I found from PMing various places, and if I get the powercolor card I get free shipping for the order, so kinda want that card unless it's a horrible brand or something.

Thanks in advance :)

See how much an XFX branded HD 5850 costs. XFX is better than than Powercolor due to their lifetime warranty and better customer support.

Cheapest I could get the xfx for is about $325...not too bad, but then I'd have to pay the extra $70 or so for shipping. Is extra $90 really worth it?

$70 for shipping? Damn that's extremely high. If you can't find any cheaper shipping option, don't bother spending the extra $70.

Hmm just removed the card from my cart and it's actually $50, still not worth it imo. The powercolor card got decent reviews and has a 2yr warranty I think.

What about the other components though, any I should swap out? I'm also undecided on the monitor, I don't really need the 26in as opposed to 24, but this one was on sale. So if anyone knows of a better quality one maybe around $300 let me know.

Bump, got everything in my cart, just waiting for some input so I can finally press the checkout button :)

Will do, can't wait...gonna be a nice change from 5 year old laptop than can barely play wc3 :)
