I just watched an amazing show around here, too bad i didn't have my camera with me. i am going to see some more on monday, so i will bring the good old a60 along for the trip
In about 10 minutes I'm headed out to a fireworks display. Gonna use a laser-pointer so I can AF to infinity with the 18-55mm f/3.5-f/5.6, and then get my home-made cable release setup and fire away at the fireworks. Anyways nice shots. I hope to get a few cool ones too (even if I can't review them tonight)
I'm back from a show...it was much shorter than I thought it was. Perhaps only 20 minutes long. And to make things worse my shutter release cable broke and part of it was stuck inside of my camera...
Anyways, here are the one I liked from tonight's show...
PS-RagE... Nice shots.... I need to get a remote release. What were your shutter times averaging? Are those the full frame originals, or have they been cropped?... And how much?
I just got back from fireworks in Folsom, CA. I'll post pics tomarrow. I had ISO at 200, F/11, and at bulb exposure along with a corded remote. They turned out pretty good, or so it looked on the 2" screen while taking them
I ended up a *lot* closer to the fireworks than I expected. The EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-f/5.6 @ 18mm wasn't wide enough many of the larger fireworks. But I still managed to get some decent looking pictures...
Settings were bulb mode (about 1-3 sec average), f/8, ISO 100, shot in RAW so I could play a little in the RAW processor (mainly for the dimmer fireworks such as the 3rd one), and on a tripod (though I didn't tighten down its position so I could move with the show). Some pictures are cropped more than others (see frame's text size).
The weird one that looks like its running away, I just quickly moved the camera to the right, it was a pretty sweet effect. Also, the last one looks like an angel, which I thought was pretty cool.
I realized after I took them all that my ISO was @ 400, I wish I would have set it lower, oh well.
A few from Champaign's celebration. The whole thing was pushed back until 10PM due to rain, though it continued to rain during the fireworks. The bulb on my pneumatic shutter release was split open, so I had to improvise one out of a turkey baster.
its amazing what they can do in the pyrotechnics world now.
my 4th got ruined when my mom refused to pick me up before my dad and sisters left for the fireworks...causeing me to not be able to go see any/take pics
but i do have a few taken on the 2nd. ill post em as soon as i get thru with the post-processing of the other hundreds of pics i took last weekend
