Final X1900XTX speeds?

What i'm also wondering about is the X1900 Crossfire cards. How much? When? Hopefully not a long wait on those. I gotta see the difference in performance between this and the 7900 90NM G71 SLi setup. whoever is king will be in my next rig.

me too, they better fight for my support and money :D

Why are Nvidia and ATI using each other naming schemes now? X800 GT, 6800 XT, and now a X1900 XTX? I sure hope the inquirer is wrong about the name of the card!!!

I think ATi is trying to push the idea that porn will play better on their cards
X1900XTX
Just look at what AVIVO does for video :p

Be interesting to see how it perfoms, im not expecting anything radically improved over x1800xt.

I think this is going to be a really sweet card, and a substantial improvement over the 1800XT. Should carry them through until DX10.
Fill rate isn't everything, and hasn't been everything for quite some time. I don't think the clocks are anything to be worried about.

Hopefully it does deliver on the performance everyone is hoping for. I for one am waiting to see how it stacks up in crossfire against the G71 cards in SLI. Partially because Im a future-proofing idiot, but mostly because a deer stole about 1700 bucks out of my new computer fun when it decided to go for a joy ride on the hood of my car.

My $300 CAD x850XT PE will be my card till it dies, or till I get a job.

Wish I could afford an x1900XTX...

Man that sucks. If you are really a "future-proofing idiot" you should wait to Direct X 10 cards come out then.

they got those numbers from HKEP which supposedly has one right now, so it seems to be very trust worthy

a little disapointed with the ram, how ever if by staying with the same ram they have on the X1800's helps with availability and driving prices down due to competition i'm all for it

Two words: Deer Whistle

If you can't find a deer whistle, an old FX5200 series dual slot cooler hooked up to your cars 12v system will make a similar shreiking sound.

In terms of ram I think they're already pushing it past spec and I wasn't expecting them to go GDDR4 with these cards

Am I the only one that is more interested in the ATI motherboards than the cards at this point? I know ATI and Nvidia can put out a nice card but ATI hopefully puts out a great board is my biggest concern. I wouldn't mind a xfire mobo if it was any good and the system as a whole was thought out better.

I actually had one of those on my old truck, still managed to hit one. We're just so over populated with them around here that they just overflow into the roads during dawn and dusk. The thing cut out behind an oncomming truck, so I didn't even see it till it landed on my hood. Thankfully I was only doing about 30 since it was a blind corner and I had slowed from 50

Whens that supposed to happen? I'm pretty much just shooting for march since thats when I should earn my money back. It also happens to be just after the release of the G71.. supposedly.

That does suck, but you know what they say, when you hit a deer, its time for Deer Chili :D

anyword on when the next ATI motherboard chipset comes out?

well they have some very nice motherboards out right now, suprised to see htem work out as many bugs as they have so quickly

XTX? That's retarded. Video card names are getting so sutpid.

its a freakin peice of hardware, who cares what its called, is the next guy over going to care that a peice of your hardware has the terminology XTX on it? i don't think so, get over the naming scheme, its retarded to get mad over it

Seems like they're just trying to make the naming scheme as similar to the "GTX" monicker as possible with this "XTX" stuff.

I personally think that a simpler more elegant naming scheme would benefit them more, like they used with the X1800's: XL and XT followed by XT:pE (Phantom Edition).

I agree up to a point. A rose by any other name...

That said would you drive a sports car that had a model name of "Princess". How about if Ford rebadges the mustang and starts calling it the 06 Princess GT. Wouldn't that bug you just a *wee* bit?

Its the coolest name ever! Cant wait for the next, next gen when its called the X1900XTX SuperduperSupra and the X1900XTX SuperduperSupraExtreme. Then well be in heaven. :D

ehh... time to upgrade ? I think I'll wait for the next gen cards for win vista and dx10.

The new naming scheme is to replace 'PE' after the X800XTPE sullied the name and was called jokingly 'phantom edition' due to a lack of cards (much like GTX 512MB). Check the inquirer for more information but I have to agree with them that nVidia now need a new name to replace 'GTX' which in turn replaced 'Ultra' because of not being able to find GTX 512MB's anywhere.

Swings and roundabouts...

Honestly IMO "Pro", "XT", and "XTPE" seemed fine. I don't think they should change a thing. Same w/Nvidia and the GTX series.

I can't wait to see what it can do!

On a side note, how long will it take from the release of the RD580 to the release of a motherboard that uses it?

Yeah, but they are right sometimes, and since this seems pretty concrete I'd say they're a fine source for this particular info...

Wrong all the time about what? Most people in my experience who bash the inquirer are jumping on the bandwagon. The only real time I remember them being way off the chart was with the R520, I'm talking a 6 months before the launch (maybe longer) and when the launch came closer they finally did get some specs right.

This informaton goes hand in hand with what we already knew and details from HKPC and as to the RD580 part, they and ati have been saying that it will launch alongside the R580 for quite sometime.

oh come on. they post wrong stuff all the time and then when they eventually get something right(usually right before a product launch) everyone forgots about all the wrong stuff.

this time they are quoting their source with HKEPC, which is a valuable source of info

Not only that, this time around they seem to be repeating the same stuff with little tid bits of new info. With the R520 their information was all over the place and never seemed to match, I mean they've reported the jan. 24th date like 4 times now.

I wonder how much better the X1900 will be over the X1800. I am rebuilding my rig in the next week, upgrading to PCI-E and going AMD. My X800XT has served me well. With the X1900 coming out on Jan 25th, I'm wondering if I should buy a cheapo PCI-E card and then get the X1900 when it comes out, or just go with the X1800 now.

This close to launch I'd say just wait for it, it will be faster than the X1800 although I don't know by how much (basically R580 is what R520 should of been).

No, Mustang is a womans car in the first place, the only good ones are the 65'-68', and they can't change the past.
