i was actually surprised how this got leaked, but i just checked and MW2 has been leaked on the 360. cant wait for the next wave of people complaining why they got banned after playing this early :p

What an odd list. Any weapon list without a 1911 is a FAIL in my book.

I like it!

*insert obligitory "Shame about the no dedicated servers on PC thing" comment...wait, I just did*

All sounds pretty uninspired and unexciting.

Also: lol @ M16A2 best assault rifle in the game, Kris dealing less damage than MP5 - why even bother. I'm not even a gun owner/nerd but I know enough that's way off the mark, surely?

What?! No VZ61?!!

I think a PKM would've been a better choice than an RPD as well. That, and they picked the worlds RAREST target rifle as a sniper rifle (WA 2000). There was only like 20 (or less, can't remember exactly) of them made.

Oh well...still won't buy it.

Why are shotguns secondary weapons just like pistols? I'm not digging that. I was a shotgun master in CoD4. Don't tell me shotguns are getting toned down to secondary weapon status.

wait so the shot gun class isnt a primary class anymore? thats a differenct change i guess....... people with shot guns instead of pistols.

I have always loved the RPD. Awesome gun in COD4.

I am surprised the M16 got moved up in the unlock, but glad to as it does complete work. I hope that continues though...was always my go to gun in COD4. Always seems to work well for me. I hate the M4 TBH.

you can download extra perks for $11 each. a bargain at any price. my life is drab and wretched by comparison.

A massive +1 to that. Axe the Desert Eagle and insert M1911.

They wanted to give more options for the secondary weapons, shotguns are just as powerful as they were in MW1. Each secondary weapon type has it's benefits. Handguns give quick swap, SMG and shotguns swap slower but one has high rate of fire and the other has massive CQB damage.

strange to see no M4 either ....

As mentioned, M4A1 = M4 (with a different trigger group). The difference is that the M4 is a 3 shot burst weapon and the M4A1 is full auto.

probably saving that crap for MW3 if they have a fan base left after this

Love it or hate it the MW franchise has a massive fanbase and MW2 is only going to expand it. Comments like that just emphasize the fanboi-ness.

I would have liked to see some perk where you can give up your nades for an extra weapon attachment, then I'd be rolling with a silencer + scope + uav jammer
but thats all moot since I will not be buying this game :(

You mean something like Bling? Add 2x attachments, and you don't even have to give up your greanades.

Well IMHO the M16 is actually a pretty top notch gun. Most government issue models can probably shoot better than 2 MOA right out of the box so to speak. Its easy to field strip. Its easy to modify. For what its worth there are lots of guns that are just as good as an M16 but there aren't many that are actually measureably better. I was actually reading an article in my Guns & Ammo about the G36, which has so many parts that dust and dirt can still jam it up. My choice for an AR platform replacement is FN's SCAR platform.

From all I've heard and read the SCAR-H (haven't heard much about the SCAR-L) is a piece of junk. Highly unaccurate (I think at 100 yards 3.5 MOA was the best they could get), easily fouled up, and the buttstock is very flimsy. Honestly I have very high hopes for the Magpul Masada aka Remington/Bushmaster ACR (whenever they decide who is going to manufacture it...).

You're right though, overall the M16 platform has served very well. If people would keep it cleaned and well lubed it runs great.

As for the in-game guns I agree, the damage of the M16 shouldn't be much higher than the M4A1, Tar 21, FAMAS, or ACR (it's got a longer barrel which will deliver slightly higher bullet velocity but that's about it).

This is why I was confused, though, since I was lead to believe that things like the Bushmater and SCAR stuff was introduced to address the M16 family's shortcomings, in terms of accuracy, reliability, stopping power etc. I was surprised to see them rated comparatively badly in the youtube vidjo.

You can't change the ballistics of the 5.56mm round, it is what it is and it does what it was designed to do. It's light so you can carry comparitively more of it than say your .308, it's very fast and when it hits well it fragments.

The ACR and SCAR are meant to both address shortcomings and enhance the platform of the AR15, I think the ACR's design is vastly superior though. It is extremely modular (you need a lower receiver and a barrel and it can be changed to any of 5 or 6 different calibers in under a minute), it's extremely simple, it's extremely durable, and I think it actually incorporates the gas-piston system than the piston AR-15's. It's almost completely ambidextrious and the amount of time needed to train a soldier to use it is minimal if they've used an M16.

The SCAR comes in 2 different flavors, the SCAR-H which is a 7.62x54mm (.308) designated marksman style rifle and the SCAR-L which is a 5.56mm M4 replacement weapon. The L hasn't been tested very much yet, the H isn't being very well favored by the military people I've heard from.

Honestly I think they need to look into switching to the Remington 6.8mm SPC cartridge. The 5.56mm gets a bad rep and when it works properly it's great, but too often it doesn't work as anticipated. The ACR comes ready for the 6.8mm w/matching barrel and lower receiver ready to go.

And you can't trust everything you see on YouTube videos.

I can't speak towards to the SCAR-H but from what I have seen the SCAR-L is fine. Frankly I am a bit surprised since FN makes so many quality weapos as it is. Almost considering buying the civilian verson myself.

I've never had either of my ARs jam due to dust/dirt. I've had a couple jams due to faulty ammo and a cheapo magazine, both of which were my fault.

The M16 is pretty much the benchmark for accuracy for a modern battlerifle. Stopping power is a moot point since most of the guns designed to replace it are 5.56. You need a bigger cartridge which you can do with the AR platform as it is. Reliability tends to be a wash since they just use gas pistons which add more moving parts and more places to foul up not to mention additional complications for strip cleaning and weight.

On Arfcom I've read several reports/reviews of people who don't like the "H." I've just not heard anything about the "L" yet. (or MK16/MK17).

Yeah, my DI AR hasn't given me a lick of trouble other than shooting some cheap Russian steel cased ammo with a bad primer (and typically it eats that stuff up). I agree, the AR platform wasn't designed for the gas piston parts, they seem to make the rifles overly front heavy (ala. Sig 556).

Theres an article on the L model in the July '09 American Rifleman. I haven't seen much else though.
